What's Going on With Evan?

Fournier has stunk up the joint that’s for sure. But Ross and Simmons haven’t lit the world on fire when they’ve played either. I’m no fan of Fournier and never have been, so I’d love to see him traded. He’s not a team player, and this preseason is showing that if he’s not hitting self created shots he’s utterly useless. But the reality is he is on this team and for the sake of having a decent season I hope his play picks up.

Yes, its preseason.
Yes, its super early and we can't draw any conclusions.
Yes, players go through ups and downs and Fournier is particularly subject to that...

BUT.

In 2 preseason games against NBA competition he has 23 shots, 3!! made baskets, 4 turnovers and 0 free throws attempted. That isn't just bad. That is horrific. That goes beyond a slump. The man is shooting under 15% against NBA competition - I don't even know what to say about that. Taking a quick look back at last year, Evan shot under 20% in ONE game the entire year -- again, I understand all of the appropriate caveats about the preseason etc -- but something does not look right. Here is hoping that changes.

Fournier shows good movement off of the ball and is getting himself open looks. He is simply missing his stroke. This is actually something to be horrified by.

Yes he is transitioning from SF to his natural SG slot, but actually making his J is why he gets paid. This needs an instant correction.

Updating the stats he is now 6-33 in 3 NBA preseason games against NBA teams. That's 18% shooting for a player whose top value is supposed to be his ability to shoot. He also has gone to the free throw line a grand total of one occasion in three games. Hopefully he can re-calibrate this evening in preparation for the Heat next week. I'm not particularly optimistic though.

Well the last 4 season,are a good reason why I think he'll turn it around. So again im not concerned.
