Frazier - this guy was written off this summer by some, yet he continues to show that he has NBA game. Having him and Iwundu seems a bit redundant, but if you like small ball, it actually works quite nicely off the bench and makes Simmons expendable in a trade.

As much as I hated this pick in regards to roster contruction, I loved the fact we took a flier on Frazier because I think he will be great. Exactly the kind of player you want to bolster the bench and situationally I could see him playing starters minutes in the future. Already like him better than Iwundu and Simmons.

I will say that I think we look well coached. Not a great amount of offensive talent, but it seems that Clifford knows how to use what he has. And the defense and rebounding so far has been what we were told.

And the starters are getting focused on defense. It is an interesting mix that the Magic starters were down the opponent and then the bench comes in to pile on points.

Why this works is that in late game situations, the Magic will be able to hold on to leads.

..

They don’t share the ball well enough because they’re worried about defense? I disagree. I think most of the starters are selfish and worry about their stats, excluding Isaac.

Bench shared well because Simmons wasn't there. Him coming back is going to throw a wrench in things. He's the sort of player you need for a scoring punch when you're struggling and points are hard to come by, but as far as maintaining a lead and running a unit smoothly, Simmons makes it hard for everybody to get into a groove a lot of times.

I hope he's toned his black holeness down some for tomorrow night.

How do you credit Fournier for the steal that Isaac tipped?!

Thats why its called a “steal”. :D

What does it matter who gets the steal? As long as we're defending and generating TO's

You'd assume the coaching staff also sees that.

You'd hope Simmons sees that.

Simmons is a ball hog and I don't think that changes. The ball is moving better but ive seen it stick sometimes ...(AG)

I'm not going to react to anything I've seen with Frazier yet. I will say that its at least encouraging that his shot has started to fall (even if it's against end of bench players) as what I saw in summer league really concerned me. I still have some hope that he can turn into a rotational player some day. I think most of his time these first couple years though will still be spent in Lakeland.

There were a couple plays that caught my attention. He caught the ball near the top of the key on the perimeter and immediately fired the ball to a cutter on the baseline for an easy shot at the rim. On another play, Grant found him on a slow break where the defense was late in picking up their assignments and Frazier slashed straight from the perimeter to the rim in just a couple steps.

Those are basketball plays that demonstrate some vision/understanding. I think there is a player in there. I'd compare him to a young Ariza. He doesn't seem quite as disruptive at the defensive end, but his shot is further along than was Ariza's in his time in Orlando.
