Echoing what has been said on this board.... loving DJ.... but he would be a much better back up for us than a starter. His capabilities on the court limits what we can probably really do as a team. He is a shooter that can make the correct and easy pass.... takes care of the ball and is not a strong defender by any stretch.

now... i just said this in another thread..... but if nothing happens because we are trying to keep the team together and upgrade the PG... I think (sad to say it this way) the Darius Garland injury could have been the best gift to us. Pretty much the top pg in the draft at the beginning of the season might slip and land directly in our laps due to injury.

What can he do.....

...that's what he can do. Of course he comes with drawbacks like every player.... but he has that it factor that we would need at the PG position. Hope he's hitting the gym.... let's hit 185 buddy. But his capabilities would make more room and easier opportunities for the players we already have.

Clifford is beginning to get into these guys heads. As the philosophies continue to be practiced by and ingrained in these players we can only go up. That's why it might NOT be the best idea to just start selling low on players like Fournier, Vooch, AG... etc. Instead fill in the gap, introducing a missing piece to a well established culture.

I think calling him the top PG in the draft is a bit early.
15th on this list.

Well... notice everyone is either a sophomore to senior player.... players that have a resume and none of those players are in consideration above Garland even right now. They totally blew the Ja Morant prediction as well if you wanna use this list for accuracy. haha

But on draft sites ... garland was usually the first pg off the board.

I firmly believe in trading high on Vuc and Ross, and getting whatever we can for Fournier (I would package him with Simmons for Parsons, Dillion Brooks, and a protected 1st)

If Luka is a PG, then why is he playing SF and PF?

He guards SFs and PFs. His role on offense is PG, similar to Ben Simmons and LeBron

Earth. Lose that final game vs Wizards, and the Magic have the same record as the Hawks and Mavs.

What is gone, is gone, let's talk about future, not about winning/losing a worthless game last season. Stoicism philosophy, guys.

To answer the subject of the thread, I absolutely think the Magic are a wing man from being a playoff contender. Not a title contender. In my opinion we should be looking at trading Fournier and perhaps even Gordon. Our biggest needs are backcourt competency. We find a way to grab a Bradley Beal or even an Andrew Wiggins and the outlook of our team improves dramatically. Add a starting quality point guard and this is a playoff squad. Obviously Kemba Walker has been talked about to death on here. All 3 raise the Magic’s profile significantly, acquiring high level players at both 1 and 2/3 puts us in the conversation to be a top 5 seed. Personally I’d do what I could to acquire Bradley Beal and Kemba Walker and fill out the rest of our needs at the 3 in the draft.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

We are 2 players away from being a contender in my view.

1. Starting level PG that is a plus defender
2. A wing to either start or come off the bench based on JI's growth. Trevor Ariza?
3. Re-sign our guys. Use expiring Mozgov for a player or cap in 20.
4. Re-evaluate by next trade deadline.

This team is pretty good when we are getting production out of our bench. Our starting group + Ross has shown to be elite at time but they can't perform at that level night in and night out. It's too much to overcome deficits from the bench or if they themselves have a poor shooting/energy night. A solid bench keeps you in the games and we are seeing a little of what that looks like in the past couple of games.

I think we just need to be patient and don't blow this up. Add cheap depth if you can but use Free Agency and our picks to get better and that could mean a trade using them as well.

Where are all posters who were talking about unlimited range, sharpshooting, instant new Curry, Curry with better range or whatever
Id trade Bamba for Young right now without a doubt. All Im looking for is flashes with these rookies. Ive seen flashes with Young. Ive been surprised with how poorly he has shot the ball so far. His passing is a good as I thought it be. Funny thing is defenses aint backing off despite his poor shooting percentage. Do you believe his shooting will still be this bad by say year 3? Cause Id love to bet on that.

Trae is shooting 42% from 3 over the last 15 so he’s already definitely starting to adjust.
