Re: OFFICIAL WOJ MCW Resigned/1 yr. deal
Wouldn’t mind if he is our 3rd string pg. but if Fultz continues to sit and it’s MCW and DJ it won’t be good.
I think he seems like the type who will set a good example with work ethic for the young guys, considering he’s seen how easy it is to fall out of the league.

Well last year when Isaac went to the bench, Gordon went to PF and Ross or Iwundu played SF.

And now we don't have to go small when Isaac goes out. Lovely.

I think that's where the issue is... you're assuming Fultz is dead on arrival. That may end up being the case, but we have no clue what is really going on with him right now, so don't you think it's premature to get upset about not signing a backup PG as if Fultz doesn't even exist?

Philly didn't even know what was wrong with him for over a year... yet you're willing to go by their decision to trade him while in win now mode? Do you think Weltman is lying when he says fultz is progressing and he's excited about that progress? He drafted a forward and spent the MLE exception on a forward knowing perfectly well that Fultz will not recover? He had an opportunity to upgrade our PG rotation and didn't do it because of... MCW? I don't know... doesn't really add up to me. I think it's entirely possible Fultz could return and at least play comparably to one of the guards you wanted... I don't see the point in getting upset without knowing what's going on behind the scenes.
I'm not sold on him bouncing back yet, but I need to actually see him shoot after months of rehab before I write him off.

Well, tbh, this move is nice if we expect Fultz back. But that is a big IF.
I`ve always maintained my position that the best way to go around this offseason is to treat Fultz as simply icing on the cake. We still have to solve our problem at PG.

The only way to do that is trade. Options are still open.
Draft had nothing at 16. 2nd rounders were not gonna bring anything this year, even though I liked a few myself.
We only had MLE in FA. Not enough to solve anything.

Given that Carter-Williams will play many of his minutes next to Ross, they are a compliment in skill sets.

I too was thinking about this.
If Augustin goes down, I guess Fournier plays on the ball. Or maybe the Magic go with Gordon as a point-forward. Eeh gads to either thought.

Re: OFFICIAL WOJ MCW Resigned/1 yr. deal
No I dont think hes lying. I think he truley believes Fultz will bounce back. And Im not saying he wont just like your not sold he will. Its a big mystery. All im saying is its a terrible idea to not try to improve a glaring weakness because of a long shot. An appropiate back up plan should not be DJ and MCW. Thats my issue.OrlandO wrote:IllMagic04 wrote:Im anticipating the most likley scenario. Im praying Fultz is everything we thought he could be out of college. Seems so blatantly obvious to me that Fultz is a head of timeline, as a poster above mentioned we are not going to shell out big money at a position where we have faith that Fultz could be our primary starter.
I know everyone likes to doom and gloom and always think the absolute worst case scenarios, but management purposelessly passed on several guards in the draft, we purposelessly passed on a lot of attainable point guards in free agency this only to me is signaling that Fultz is ready sooner than later.
The same front office that drafted a pure C at 6 the offseason before Vucevic became an all-star and got paid 100 mill is supposed to have clairvoyant foresight?
I like Fultz but he’s just a lottery ticket. This team is a DJ Augustine injury away from being out of playoff contention. Aminu is a good role player but with the team constructed as-is, I think there were better options that fit more important holes.
I think it’s unlikely that Augustin repeats his performance from last season, so we might be out of playoff contention anyway.
