Rumor: Daquan Jeffries Turned Down Two-Way Deal From Magic

I see a lot of technical comments about the contract and the market ...but CAN HE BALL?

He has an NBA ready body...6-5 thick frame (216lb) with a 6' 11.25" wingspan.

Powerful and explosive athlete who plays a physical style and can play above the rim impressively with a head of steam. Aggressive slasher who takes the ball strong to the rim when he does put it on the floor. Settles for very few mid-range attempts or pull-ups. Likes to attack closeouts when the moment calls for it, but also moves well off the ball as a cutter and screener. Scored a tremendous 1.326 points per shot around the rim in the half court [84th percentile] keeping things simple inside. Can play above the rim with room to gather and handles physicality well.

Played a significant role for the Golden Hurricanes off the ball. Did much of his scoring as a floor spacer, but also showed the ability to finish emphatically off the ball and make straight-line drives to the rim. Does not try to do too much off the dribble picking and choosing his spots well. Capable passer who will find the open man on the move.

Capable defender whose combination of length and athleticism is intriguing. Has room to be more aggressive, but flashes the ability to get in the passing lanes and block an occasional shot. Even used verticality to contest on occasion last season. Spent a lot of time playing zone, but has two-way potential.

Just sign him to a deal that's not guaranteed. Tax isn't counted until after the season so waive him if he doesnt cut it. Or stretch/trade Frazier if he gets beat out.

I'd love to sign him to a deal similar to the one the Magic gave Isaiah Briscoe last year (4 years, 6M) with years 2-3-4 fully non-guaranteed.

Not sure Jeffries wants to lock himself into three fully-non guaranteed years like that since there's not much security, but I'd offer it up if nothing else.

Given that he turned down what we initially offered him, i think he clearly knows what he wants to do. Hope it all works out for him.

I am sure he could get equivalent or possibly more money overseas if push came to shove.

Looks like he and Vic Law have signed. Kind of strange he took that deal instead of the two way contract, but I'm glad both will be coming to training camp at least.

I am very happy, they both made a great impression. I would say Law was a little underused, maybe we wanted to hide him ? If we dont sign Okeke this year we have 2 slots up for grabs.
