Re: Rumor Mill: Magic interested in trading for DeRozan
I really like Chuma Okeke has a prospect.
After Herro and Langford were taken, Okeke was high on my board even more than NAW.
I do think he will turn out well.
On trading for DeRozan, I am against dealing for a swingman who does not spread the floor and shoot a lot of threes.

I think he will be similar like Mikal Bridges.
Not bad ,but nothing special.
OK shooter,ok defender, ok driver but not really great at anything.
it's not like he was some dead-eye shooter at college 89/229 - 38,9% looks fine, but 102/145 - 70% FTs raises some questions .
What would even be best case? Tobias Harris/ Harrison Barnes?
Yeah that's about what I'm thinking.
Similar to guys like Covington, Barnes, Ariza, Harris. A SF/PF type who can defend and make threes.
sounds like a pretty good player...and a really good fit with a ball dominant point guard that is already really good at getting into the paint and either finishing at the rim, creating wide open 3PT looks, or finding cutters off of his penetration.

As somebody who argued for years that Gordon isn't as good as Harris and that Gay is his ceiling, i would take Okeke- T.Harris comp in a second.

Philosophically I agree with that, but I also will point out that a true alpha scorer is something that, if you can add one, you grab. We've lacked one for years now. Whether he shoots threes or not, there's no denying that Derozan can put a team on his back and score - which is something we either lack, or have not found on our existing roster yet.
It doesn't have to be Derozan, but it's a skillset we need that hasn't emerged yet from our current team.

Re: Rumor Mill: Magic interested in trading for DeRozan
Derozan is a good fit. I think you guys can accommodate a net negative defender for his offense. No, he's not a playoff killer, but I think he can take your franchise to the next level in your progression towards contention. He really can create his own, and he has the ability to drive and kickout well. I haven't seen him much in San Antonio but his last season with the raps he got pretty good at that. He's a player that needs to be coached to facilitate, and I'm not so familiar with Clifford's strengths, so that's something to consider.
In today's NBA, good defense is at a premium, with offensive players going off for historical numbers. Defense is more likely to be your identity going forward, which is great because individual offense isn't so hard to find today. I like this piece for you depending on who you give up for him. Just my two cents. gg guys

Vuc for DeRozan. Get it done. Get us out of that contract. Start a new brand of basketball, if only for a year.
Isaac/Bamba
Gordon/Aminu

Fourner/Ross

Re: Rumor Mill: Magic interested in trading for DeRozan
Offensively, I am coming around to the idea of putting DeRozan next to Fournier (and getting the ball out of his hands)... Maybe DeRozan isn't the shooter we need, but if he can create shots and draw defensive attention, maybe he can get Fournier a lot of open looks to help mold him into that efficient outside shooter we lack.
I shudder to think of the holes on the defensive end though with that undersized lineup. Isaac can't clean up everyone's mess.

On perimeter nobody will guard anybody but Evan. Gordon for all crap he does, at least commands some attention from 1 defender. Against Derozan and Fultz you just clog paint and play zone whole game long.

You and other guys probably demand a Gordon for Russell trade the whole season, but this doesnt make it more realistic.
Russell is gonna stat stuff the whole season, on a really bad team on high pace, with tons of shots, while AG plays the worst season of his career. There trade value, goes in totally different directions.
Plus, Golden State literally gave up 2 first round picks (1 protected), to sign Russell. One in the sign & trade + 1 in dumping Iggy.
I can't see how they just swap Russell for Gordon, under those circumstances. We probably have to give up a lot more, for such a flawed player.

The whole season? He is injured and the trade would happen in 2 weeks

I could see GSW doing that kind of deal in the off season but not during the year. Might as well let DAR chuck and keep his value up.

Russell trade aint gonna happen
GS is banking on trading him a pick and some of their young overachievers like Paschall for mr alphabet next summer or later.
They are in no rush they will keep him as an asset.

Re: Rumor Mill: Magic interested in trading for DeRozan
Derozan trades screams short term knee jerk move aks Hennigan trading Oladipo for Ibaka. This move would not do anything long term. we are not going to resign him to a max. Yes we need scoring help but Derozan isnt the answer.

Re: Rumor Mill: Magic interested in trading for DeRozan
Agree ^...I'd give up a lot to get a bonafide scorer, but not for DeRozan. If we could get him on the cheap, I'm all in but he's not the right guy...I like Beal, CJ, Lavine and would pay for them (or hold steady for now)
