It's not like Magic ever menaged to build championship team around him ,and that's not his fault.
Everybody likes Turk, but if we are being honest ,he was Gallinari level player at most.
Lewis is another player who was complimentary peace ,yet one year was second highest payed player in basketball.
Right before everything went to garbage, Magic commited biggest money to... Gilbert Arenas who shot 34% FG on 8 ppg.

Even during nba finals it was obvious that Magic need another star ballhandler ,as team was led by Lewis in assists (4,3 a game) where Lakers were led by Kobe (7,4). Especially because Nelson was hurt.
They probably did try to adress ballhandling issue with Arenas later, but in hindsight, Arenas was already trash at that point.

Lot of this is also bad luck.
Magic got Vince -who already got worst and declined.
Magic got Arenas who fell off cliff.
Magic found a way to get Turk back, who also fall off cliff after.

They were 31-33 years old players. There was no objective reason why they got so much worst so fast.

As for this game, Lakers are really, really good and built for playoffs.
For Magic, next game is flopping party vs Harden at home and 4 road games vs West. (Pelicans, Jazz, Nuggets, Blazers).
Tbh i don't see much reason why rush Vuc back before Jazz game.

Yea for me was even a really strange feeling in the week up to the finals. I was super happy, but depressed at the same time. I knew we have almost no realistic chance & it was probably our only chance with that team, because of the Hedo contract situation + the team failed to acquire other young talent around Dwight over the years (Dwight was still the youngest player & this was his 5th year).
I don't like him personally, but what Dwight did here is still super underrated by fans & media. He did something guys like Garnett never did. He put 1-2 super role players/fringe all-stars in the finals & he always stepped up his game in the playoffs unlike players like David Robinson or Alonzo Mourning.

To the game.
Fantastic defense by JI vs. AD. AG was solid. Mo with another good game. Ross was off tonight but cant fault him after 6-7 really good games in a row. Lakers are just too good defensively for us without Vuc & Fultz. With them i like our chances.
We held both there stars way under 50% shooting. Too bad the scrubs had the hot hand.

Howard was 6'9 C without offensive skills, terrible FT shooting and poor floor vision... Yet averaged 20-14- 3
IN first 7 years of his career he missed what ? 8 regular season games?

It's amazing how fans have a nerve to question his work ethic. Work ethic is pretty much only thing he had/has.
" oh but he used to eat lot of candies" -MFer is 6'9 -265 , to even sustain that weight during regular season he needs to eat over 3500 calories a day. If you want to eat healthy and have that calory intake- you literally have to eat 7 pounds of chicken a day.

I had zero expetations from this game. Lakers well rested, comming with 2 MVP candidates and one of them is DPOY candidate. Game was more entertaining than i imagined. Scheduled L. Have no expetations from next one either.

Well i thought it was a well played game. Saw some good things from our youngs. While it may take a little bit to get back in a rhythm (which he won't be afforded of course.) Getting our best player back Wil be huge,

They definitely showed some fight. Refreshing. But the last 2 games have also been stone cold reminders of how far away this team is from being an actual contender.

9 points quater was just 4th time in franchize history where team failed to reach 10 points.

Really good effort on the defensive end, Isaac in particular was sensational, Ag and MCW were excellent too on that end, but the game really illustrated how terrible our half court offense is without Vuc and Fultz. When we weren't in transition we were struggling mightily to get any good looks for players who can shoot. DJ was completely neutralised, Fournier was doubled often and forced to take really tough shots, etc.

I don’t want to buy all the way back in yet but it’s games like this that give me hope for Bamba. The long term potential of a Isaac/Bamba front court is just so enticing.

Was hard to watch early, but made things real interesting the rest of the game. Best part was MCW and his mentee Iwundu pushing Dwight lol. Also funny how Isaac likes to swipe the ball from opponents even during dead balls.

At least defensively. The Lakers are kinda how we can look on defense with those 2 with NBA bodies. AD + Javale combo, while Isaac & Bamba have even more def. upside, because its really AD's first dominant defensive year & i still doubt he can anchor a top 5 defense with worse defenders around him & Javale is kinda the worst case outcome of Bamba with a NBA body on defense.
My hope with Bamba is still his body. If he ever becomes ''real'' swole Bamba, he can be a defensive force, even with his bad instincts & on offense he can finish with contact.
The Bamba & JI paaring looks better than last year on defense.

Can't remember the last time fans actually cared when he came to town. That's how you know the bitterness has died way down. It probably helps that he fell off a cliff after he left here. Bitterness for Shaq lasted way longer.
