He said it once in interview lol.

In general giving max contracts to rookie scale contracts is worst than ever. Nobody knows what salary will look like in future and you can't give up that money on player that isn't super elite already. LIke, from young players i would only give max contract ext to Dončić and nobody else.
Ben Simmons signed 5 years $168 000 000 - base. Orginal salary can go up if he is allstar :banghead:

In 2024 he will make $38,6 M
Mitchell will get the max, i guarantee that.

Maybe, but he shouldn't. I mean, Gobert is eligiable for supermax that goes up to $50M a year

Those are franchise killer type salaries. No wonder why teams fall off map so quick nowdays and need years to rebuild.

I have no idea what Fultz's ceiling is. I'm still very excited about him as a player, but id be lying if I didn't acknowledge that this is one of the most confusing and hard to judge situations I've ever seen. Is he a better version of Shaun Livingston? Eric Bledsoe? Or with another summer of training/rehab will he regain his 3pt form (the way he shoots from midrange) and become even better?

I truly have no clue. He has these stretches during every game where you see how special he can become. He's also only 21 and is basically playing his first NBA season. It's just such a unique situation.

Completely agree. If his 3 ever got as fluid as his mid-range I'd say keep him at any costs. It feels like he has the work ethic to get there, I just wonder if his shoulders will be able to eventually. Million dollar question I suppose. I do think with proper minutes/usage he could be a 17-5-5 starting pg without any 3 point improvement.

Yup.

For extra context, in comparison to a few top 10 picks this year:

Fultz is just 8 months older than Jarrett Culver
Fultz is just 14 months older than Ja Marant
...
Fultz is also 6 months younger than De'Andre Hunter!

My dream is one night he'll show up for a game with his Washington hair cut and that'll mean that his Washington shot is back.

He still needs way more time to be judged on his outside shot. If his old shot ever comes back (and matches his current 15 foot jumper) he has the chance to be a 2-way star. Even if his old shot doesn't come back, more time with his new 3 form will only help him get better so that should still get better. If this is the case, he'll be a mid-level starter in the league based on everything else he does so well.

He looks great. He gets into the paint at will and finishes creatively and confidently. His jumper looks good...I'd really like to see a few 20+ point games...why isn't that happening?

He simply doesn't take enough shots/isn't aggressive enough. He defers a lot.

I think you mean he isn’t aggressive OFTEN enough. Because man o man, when he wants to attack and slam it down he can be pretty darn aggressive. He has that in him. He just needs to let it out more.

I do like him deferring a lot though. His vision is elite at times.

Yeah, what I mean by aggressive is just actively looking for his shot more.

Fultz has been through a lot past few years and hopefully is coming back mentally stronger. That Washington boy he was in college isn't coming back, but fingers crossed for his further improvement.

He’s worth Aaron Gordon money (~20 mil) imo if he stays healthy. I can see the team pushing for team option(s) years to cover them for injury.

There's limitations to a guy who can't shoot 3's very well, but that's OK...be DeRozan, be Ben Simmons, drive and dunk, drive and dish, collapse the D, get them on their heels, pull up at the elbow. Getting 9 assists a game is another way to spread the floor without bombing 3's...maybe put him out with Evan and Ross, ready to spot up... 3's are very important, but not the only way to skin a 25 point game....James Harden at the draft "not really a shooter, but a scorer", Zach Lavine/WestBeast -ditto...go with what you got, 11ppg makes no sense-unleash this kid! Construct an offensive gameplan around him.

I wouldn't give him anymore than double what he makes now. That seems fair to me. 12-13 mill.

To be clear, are you saying $12-13M is the most you would pay or are you referencing his contract next year?

Fultz makes $9M this year and $12M next year.

Double that is a good bit MORE than AG will be making in 2021.

For some reason I was thinking Fultz & Isaac were both making 6+mil this year. I was thinking double that.

Fultz's double from 4th year is $24,5M

That's Giannis salary. Hard pass.

He's shooting 368 from 3 in last 16 games. I could see him averaging in that range for his career.

He is 25% from 3 with broken shot. It's Elfrid Payton 2.0 situation.

He's a much better shooter than EP, he just hasn't played long enough to get his averages up.
