Listen to the Matt Lloyd interview in the Pod Squad. They put advanced stats in high regard.

These Pelton projections line up really well with who we take. Cole Anthony was highly ranked by Pelton's projected WAR too.

I wouldn't really call them advanced stats. They are projections of performance transformed into advanced stats/wins above replacement. They must have their own projections, but they do seem to model them very similarly to Pelton.

Pelton's WAR rankings:
2017: Fultz and Isaac ranked 2 and 3
2018: haven't been able to find
2019: Okeke ranked 2
2020: I remember seeing Cole top 5 or so in Pelton's projections this year.

Maybe they can save some money and just invest in an ESPN + subscription and get rid of their scouting department.

Kevin Pelton similar projections for 2014 draft had Marcus Smart as the best prospect, followed by Clint Capela, Dante Exum and Jordan Adamas. Than Joel Embiid. And no, probably best player from a darft, Jokic, didn't crack top 30.

2016 went in similar, unspectacular fashion for his predictions ,where Jaylen Brown somehow ended up 28th and Bender ended up second. Bender is already out of the league.

2017 was also disaster based on his projections, Mitchell ended up 18, Tatum 8th, Fultz and Lonzo, who are now fringe nba starters were 1 and 2. Bm Adebayo, according to his data, was not first round pick.

After that year fans stopped caring about his projections as they were wild and lacked any deeper insight.

Bamba was ranked 7. I posted this before the draft

Looking at the rankings
If I remember correctly,

isaac was number 3 in WARP for his draft class
Bamba was 7 (MPJ and Mikal were ahead of him though)
Okeke was number 2 in his draft class.

Orlando has a brutal road stretch coming and really could use more bench depth; any word on Okeke's progress?

Knowing our Medical Staff and FO Okeke will be shut down for the year and they'll wait until off season to tell us he had surgery to clean up the knee some more.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

The reports said he'd be out several weeks and he's only been out six days.

So I doubt he's even really started, much less ramped up, any sort of significant rehab.

Thanks! That is probably where i saw this initially, and it is either an incredible coincidence or a great tool for us armchair draft prognosticators.

MPJ a ton of injury risk but a lot of upside. I still like Bamba, but Mikal would look really good as our 3 right now, assuming he had a similar development arc here.

Maybe Pelton builds a lot of prep results into his model. Seeing how high he was on MPJ and Cole.

Cole was ranked 4, Rj Hampton 8. They could have had Isaiah Joe, ranked 11, at their 2nd round pick.
