B+ in terms of trades

I was not happy with the Gordon trade. But it was obviously the best one out there.

However, I give our new direction an A++++

Basically we sold high on Vucevic and Gordon and bought low on Harris and Porter. Harris is propably better player than Gordon, he just didnt fit on Nuggets and he was always injured. Porter was misused by Boylen and also injured.
Anthony/Harris/Porter/Okeke/Carter.
Like thats a better team than we had for most of the year.... if Clifford uses his magic we could be better than anticipated even this year. Tanking is hard lol
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

In totality I give it a solid A. I think WCJ/Mo can be a very solid C rotation, and Hampton(who I’m most excited about) can be a good young player. Although Harris has struggled offensively he’s a very good defender. I can see him improving with more PT.
I just can’t say enough how happy I am that they picked a direction.
My only concern is that they completely eff up this draft.

Started the rebuild.
Got 2 solid vets (albeit on bad contracts)
a 21 year old center who was the 7th pick a couple years ago and has put up nice numbers in limited games, again 21 yo...still room to grow
a nice young prospect in 2020 1st round pick RJ Hampton who has a ton of potential and is still very young at a premium position (SG)
3 future 1st round picks, 2021,2023 and 2025, one of which should be a nice pick in the 15-22 range this year (so this is like adding another Cole Anthony or Okeke)
2 future 2nd rounders

I could see some people, especially on this board, who will hate that return, but thats quite a haul for 3 guys with 1 allstar game between them and 2 playoff wins in 7 years. I love gordon, hes been my favorite player since dwight left, vuc is such a pro and fun to watch, and i really liked evan until he decided he needed to be the hero, but again, 2 playoff game wins and 1 all star selection between the 3 in 7 years....

that your way of saying Nik wasnt a 2xAll-star?

Me too, but tell me how certain are you Clifford wont win with 10 healthy players ? I dont think Anthony and Okeke are ready, but Harris and Porter ? They are legit nba starters.

I give us a B.

I really wish/thought we'd get a little more value for Fournier. And we could've at least came off Ennis or Birch. Both are solid pros though, and wouldn't mind them the rest of the season.

Weltman made it clear how hard it is to aquire picks. Still, I had this as a C. The trades did not free of cap space THIS off-season. And the players brought in a injury prone. But a C is the definition of "as expected".

I have a B+ too.
Completely committing to the rebuild is an A. I was afraid they were going to half tank.
C+ --for return of players, Wasn't expecting much from Evan, thought the other two were appropriate value.
B -- for the Cap flexibility - we went from STILL being over the cap if we let Evan walk, to having about ~10M in room.
Also, IF Harris has a resurgence with us next year, he'll have value at the trade deadline. IF not, nice big expiring for more cap space.
Total = B+

Of course, the real judging will be what we get out of our 1st rounders this next draft.

I'll give the Magic trade deadline a B

My prayerss about Gordon to the Nuggets were answered. He's now in the perfect situation as the new PF for the team. I will admit I rather had Will Barton over Gary Harris in the trade. Also wish the Magic traded for Zeke Nnaji rather than the future pick four years down the line. I'm looking forward to seeing what RJ can do and what he needs to work on towards the better part of his young career.

Fournier I think should've gotten the Magic a late first and a second rather than two seconds. The 17M trade exception is good here.

Getting back a center in Carter is decent. Can he gain some momentum to play better and stay healthy. OPJ is a 3&D player who I think fel off during his time with the Bulls mostly due to health issues. Now that he's with a new team, can he find some motivation to bring some energy and new dedication to the remainder of the season.

Trade deadline was an A from me. Not exactly thrilled with another rebuild, I like watching competitive games and not gonna bother probably until we actually have potential star on the roster again. Having said that, this was only logical route we had to take and it was done very well in my opinion.

I say overall, it was a B.

I think the Vuc trade was an A, Wendell Carter Jr is a prospect worth looking at for a change of scenery, Otto Porter fits with what we're doing and is expiring and the draft picks could be something.

I was hoping for a better return for AG and Evan but it was probably the best we could've gotten. I like Hampton and the first is far out so hard to judge. I'm not a Harris fan and he is overpaid, but he was once good. Maybe a change can benefit him too. The Evan return was disappointing, I really thought we could've found someone willing to give us a late first for Evan but if Oladipo couldn't got one, I guess Evan wasnt fetching one.

I'm just happy with the direction we went with, I really didn't see this coming.

Not moving Ennis or Birch was surprising too, since there was interest, but they aren't bad players to have on your team. Honestly they both are playing really well. Just worried with Birch here, Mo still won't play
