I think you all need to be prepared mentally for us to take him at 8

not at all. doesnt project as a star and we already have 2 PG's on the roster.

i personally believe there is zero chance we take him, let alone he doesnt have the physical profile they look for with high picks

Fultz,Anthony,Hampton,MCW.
Four PG's for the moment.

FO could look at Wagner with the 8th pick.
6f9 with 6f11 wingspan.

Hell. No.

You’re looking at a 22 y/o, 23 by the time the season starts, nearly maxed out prospect. And his big ‘breakout tournament’ he averaged 13.5/5.8/2.8 in 34 mpg. He only scored 20+ points five times in his career, three of those times coming against one of the worst defensive teams in the country Kansas State this year.

Besides the raw numbers, he shot 50/36/46 splits in the tournament. You really want to draft a PG that shot that low on FT% after seeing what Simmons just went thru?

I know he has impressive defense for a PG, but that only gets you so far in the league. He’s not some master facilitator. He’s not a great scorer, he doesn’t have good size. Show me another 22 y/o prospect like him who made it in the league as an all star type player.

I think he’s going to max out as a Derek Fisher/Pat Beverly/Bruce Bowen of PGs type player. Who are fine if you have two superstars in the lineup with them, but we kind of have to figure that part out still.

Knightro wrote:Not interested at all. Mitchell turns 23 soon and has exactly one season of good production when he was the oldest and perhaps the most physically and mentally mature player on the court every night.

Beyond that, I'm not convinced his crazy spike in 3PT shooting this past year is legitimate at all considering he still shot just 64% from the FT line.

He's a total stay away for me.

Couldn’t have put it better myself. Negative interest in the guy.

I liked him a lot when I thought he was 6'2" 6'0" is just too short for what he is. He's more of backup PG,or an interesting combo guard that can really play defense. At 6'0" just too much limitations for real upside. I think he will find success, but it's probably going to be a role player, that is just a nuisance on D, bigger guards are going to be able to feast on.

Factor in the shooting risk with the FT%, and the upside just isn't there. He's a defensive version of Cole.

I think we can all suspect his family or agent have paid a lot off mock-sites to have him rank that high just to generate some interest.

So, you wouldn't have drafted Chris Paul back in the day purely due to size? If the Choice comes between Mitchell and Barnes at 8, I will probably take Mitchell.

First off.. it's tongue-in-cheek/ jok which I admit I should have used greed font.

Second.. why not? That accusation has been done and although no proof has been submitted ( because really, what's the use ) a lot of players have been accused of that. If I remember ( pls someone correct me if im wrong ) wasn't Lavar accused of pressuring mock sites to have his kid have a higher ranking than what he is projected? There were some other "basketball dads" having mock sites where their kid, supposedly end of the 1st round being put in the teens.

Again, it's all smoke but the accusations were funny enough.

I would have absolutely taken Paul. Chris Paul was an elite passer, ball handler, and pick and roll operator, and excellent shooter (47%from3, 84%FT), and a defender, 2.5 steals. Mitchell is one of those 1.3 steals. His defense is his best attribute and that is where size is most important.
