We need to remember that Wagner is young and he's going to go through a lot of growing pains, so ideally lets try not to be so hard on him for his first few seasons. He's going to have some highs and lows and likely Suggs as well even though he seems to hit the ground running so to speak.

From looking on the general board, they have a thread about predicting big surprises for the upcoming season. I found it interesting that a few posters had the Magic as a team that could be a surprise package. I'm not quite sure myself but the sky is the limit, I wonder if we'll debate about trying to bottom out again vs trying to make the play-in?

Magic at full strength (which probably won't happen but just for the sake of argument) project quite well defensively. That is probably why general fans would think we could be surprising. Isaac alone made Magic 8th best defense in the league in 2018-2019, and they tanked to bottom of the league again when he got injured. And now instead of playing with Augustine, Fournier, Gordon and Vucevic he'll be playing with Suggs, Harris, Okeke and Carter Jr. There is athleticism, height, length all over and just straight up guys that are annoying to play against.

The real question becomes just how bad the Magic will be offensively. The Magic were bad even when they had somewhat reliable offensive options like Vuc and Evan. It doesn't project well at all. Suggs though does give us some level of hope, but he's a rookie. We'll see I guess.

I don't think there should be a debate about bottoming out. Let nature take its course with these young guys. I mean what could we even do? Bench Suggs so Cole can start and lose more games? I doubt anyone would want that.
Vuc and Fournier did some good things offensively and some bad things. Vuc wasn't good at advancing the ball or drawing fouls. Fournier would sometimes only pass it to Vuc, because he knew he'd get it back. One thing is for sure, the offense was bad with them.

Appears that the ghost of Vucevic is still haunting many here...still the most divisive topic for some reason

If I made this new now instead of when I created it, I'd replace the last one about tanking with a question about whether Cole Anthony and RJ Hampton are the worst players in the NBA

Though I bet sometime around late January the tanking conversation heats up - we may be really bad but for some posters the only option is to finish the season on a 42 game losing streak or we fail as a franchise

I still find it remarkable that Magic invented 4 out and 1 in offense, only to years later thanks to Vučević's growth as a shooter surprise the league once more inventing 1 out and 4 in offense.

Yup.. only basketball purists probably know that we started this whole 1 big surround by shooters scheme.

Now, get a stretch 5 and attacking guards.

As was already proven by the first page, but i think the most decisive topic this year will be Cole

hes going to become the new Bamba, except that cole actually has some supporters and has proven more in 1 year than bamba has in 3

If Cole somehow "limits" or hinders Suggs path to superstardom, then those cole supporters will quickly jump ship.

I support Cole and I think he has a place here, but if he continues to go me-first despite there being a better option, then I can drive him to the airport on the first flight out of here.

Unless... the Cole supporters are like the Darkoholics, where they really think D12 is hindering Darko's production :o :o :o
