Cole is better then he was last season. Hes having a successful season. Okeke on the other hand is not having a successful season. A successful season for us aMagic_Kingdom wrote:Rainwater wrote:
I really mean no disrespect to Cole because he is a really decent player and he had an amazing game on the offensive end tonight but what's makes him any different from a lot guys we have seen the last decade or so. Guys like Vuc, AG, Evan, Harris, Harkeless or Victor. Guys who had great games but rarely lead to team success. Decent players but given roles way beyond their capabilities. Great complimentary pieces but had their talents wasted because we couldn't find 2 or 3 stars to come help them out. We've seen this before.
Man this is such a great point. The reason we focus so much on the minutiae is because we still don't have a player who makes a difference in the only stat column that matters -- wins and losses.
a team is getting intel on figuring out what combo of Cole/Fultz/Suggs/RJ works and a top 3 pick.

How long have Weltman and Hammond been "getting intel"? This isn't their first or second year at the helm...this is Year 5. If they aren't worried about wins in Year 5, and they weren't worried about wins in Year 4, then when exactly will they start worrying about wins? Hopefully they will let us know when we can actually root for the team to win. Maybe Year 8 or 9?
Also, you misinterpreted my comment. It wasn't limited to this year. To clarify, we haven't had a player who makes a difference in the win/loss column since Dwight left. Hennigan tore down the team and tried to rebuild. He got fired after 5 years. Weltman made the mistake of trying to win with Hennigan's players for 3 years (why didn't they just keep Hennigan?!?) while he "evaluated the roster". Then he decided it wasn't good enough and convinced ownership to let him tear down the team again and start another rebuild with more of an emphasis on tanking than ever before. So that is why, 10 years post-Dwight, we are still focused on individual progress of players who won't be here in 2 years rather than actual improvement of the team.
