Better than average defender.

What bothers me is it is taking a lot of time for him to adjust against bigger, longer and more explosive players. His handling needs a lot of work too.

Better than average only? I have seen advanced stats that has him as one of the best guard defenders in league

Just watching some Barnes highlights (Sorry, Jalen will always be tied to Scottie) and...I'm definitely still team Suggs. Barnes is a blast and a lot of fun and contributes to winning, but I just feel like Suggs is more of a skilled player and will continue in that direction. Suggs has great BBIQ and QB vision and instincts (and toughness). Barnes is great but I have no regrets, he will have a nice career but I feel that he may be closer to his ceiling than Suggs is. It's not meant as a knock, but Barnes' game is a little more of a novelty like Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman...he does stuff you don't expect, has great charisma and athleticism, etc...Suggs will be a more complete hooper than Barnes within a couple of years, IMO...but I wouldn't swap either of them for Franz.
