Go woke and go broke is mostly Hollywood related thing, and indeed their inability to hide a bit their agenda ( or at least try to merge political opinions in story cohesion ) is probably main reason why some movies ( & TV shows) bomb by people yelling at them "go woke go broke". On top of that there is complete lack of interst to create own content, rather bad attemps to cash in on already established franchises.

For example Ghoustbusters 2016. Movie that isn't prequel, isn't sequal, where cameos are mostly from characters from orginal cast, but movie that has no heart, no story and even menages to be little bit racist (as only non doctor is black girl :noway: ). So what's the point of that movie to exist? Cast is just gender switched, they didn't add anything new to a story, characters have very little chemistry together and it's page by page ripoff. Whole things turns into massive $200M bomb ( budget+ marketing) and who woke Hollywood blames? White males :D

Second example:
Terminator Dark Fate. So whole franchise was about strong female character that was doing everything in her power to protect her son, she was 80s and 90s definition of strong female and with clear character arc, from working as waitress to being badass with shotgun. Her physical atributes even changed over time into empowered women.... Just to go in 2019 and new movie where heart of a movie- John Connor is killed in first scene, Sarah Connor is basically mad, heartless, old ***t ( but directors think that's how strong women is nowdays i guess? ) and new android is unisex ? lol what? Final result- complete and utter box office bomb. ( $261M made, for comparison sake Term 4, in 10 years earlier menaged to pull $370 , adjust it to inflation and that movie made twice as much money, Terminator 3 made $433M in 2003...). Even God-awful Genessis was box office sucess.

We can argue that Star Wars last episode was another example how being "too woke" kills your fanbase and devides them for no reason.

And bottom of this, at least in Hollywood comes from , to me few major problems:
1) complete and utter lack of creativity in Hollywood in general. There is nothing new that gets major realise or has budget that is worth talking about. So we are all stuck with sequals, prequals, spinoffs of already established franchises.
So "new take of same story" normally means different color or gender casting of previous movies with almost no new ideas or risks. Just because i casted white guy to play role that was played by black person years before ( Men in Black) or swap genders of characters that won't improve story. But Hollywood directors don't get that. They live in their own bubble where they can't grasp reality of real world. Whole Oscars thing turned into bunch of mostly white people clap like fools   whilte talking about human rights in room filled with other , mostly white, privileged people, or people of color, who are also privileged

2) not understanding what "strong female " is. To me strong women is Afeni Shakur. It's mother Teresa. It's Maria Skłodowska-Curie it's Alice Coachman. But instad of making good, reliatable characters who happend to be females Hollywood's perception of strong women is women who hates males, doesn't need anybody, is entitled for everything and is better than everybody else in their first attemp to do whatever -because she is female. And nobody wants to watch movies where character is glorified she-superman that doesn't need to learn anything, never learns from own mistakes and is simply bland, superficial and therfore boring.

3) Villains. White , rich male. It's so stereotypical to the point it's not even worth talking about.

4) forced diversity casting.
So this is not even a joke but listen to this: i'm tuning in , on accident ( clicked continue) Netflix show Vikings- Valhalla and there is black female character. Timeframe: 1050. First black people in Europe - 16th sencuary?
Any deisre to keep watching show that cares more about represtentation ,despite how brainless that is than actual story is simply idiotic.

5) reimagining...That is always predictable.
What if superman was gay ? What is Batwomen was lesbian?
How about : what if Superman wasn't boyscout that actually had darker side within it? What if Batwomen , instad of being black-lesbian actually had some story to her , since your color & sex orientation isn't character development? I know, shocking
Or let her be black lesbian but also let her have human characteristics? Nah, gay-color is , in their mind- character.

Irony of this is that most watched netflix show is Polish erotic drama 365 days about white, sadistic, kinky -BDSM, rapist who inslaves women and forces her into sex (couple of times) but he is super-hot- so that makes it okey and she falls in love? And first movie literally had rape scene. But since it was sucess- movie has sequal -that is right now most watched movie on netflix?

Oh did i said he is also mob lord ?

Maybe I'm just getting old but most movies suck these days. You're not wrong with most of your examples but on top of it all, the script writers just suck. Movie conversations are forced, comedies aren't funny anymore, and storylines are written by people with ADHD

-I just laughed when I saw the trailer for that ghostbusters movie. Wasn't it the most disliked youtube video at the time?

-The terminator movies sucked after part 2. The 'wokeness' didn't ruin it. It was already terrible.

-The rich white male villain thing, to me, is a lack of creativity and poor writing.

-Forced diversity casting... yeah... as a 'brown' minority... this irks me. I even watch commercials sometimes and think... 'damn, they showed like 50 people in multiple settings in 30 seconds and not a single white person in this thing' in an American commercial

-Reimagining... again, lack of creativity and poor writing. Instead of developing new IP's, all companies, not just movie makers, are recycling the same old stuff and trying to put new twists on it; thus ruining the IP. I swear to God, no one better mess with Back to the Future

As someone that has worked in the industry for while now, this drives me insane. It comes across as lazy.

Now I’m just waiting for this thread to be locked.
