Trae Young?

Post#1 » by ogmagicfan » Thu May 19, 2022 3:08 am

I think with current roster construction, we're shaping out to be a top tier defense within the next couple years.

PG: Fultz, Cole
SG: Suggs, Hampton/Ross
SF: Franz, Okeke
PF: Jabari, Isaac
C: WCJ, Bamba

With 2 First rounders coming our way next year that could be a top 5 & 10 pick (if Lavine leaves the Bulls), we could end up on a mountain of assets.

I think making a trade for a player or making a signing this offseason isn't likely due to overpaying and desire of player to be here, but by next season with the team shaping out well, I can foresee players pushing their way to Orlando, knowing its a talented hot spot of young players that's on the edge of something great.

I think players who are young who aren't the best at defense that are PG/SG would especially be interested to joining the Magic, being able to excel in their top skills while the team covers up their defensive gaps in their game. While providing us that 1st option on offense to push us into contending in the 2023-2024 season.

List of Young PG/SG who could provide a scoring punch that we could trade for:

Trae Young
Jaylen Brown
Donovan Mitchell
Devin Booker
Shai
Zach Lavine

I think a package of the Chicago pick, Denver pick, a future 1st, Isaac (if he stays healthy), & Bamba could grab any of these players if there's a disconnect btwn the player & team, and for some of them this has already been the case.

I'm partial towards Trae, has shown the ability to carry the biggest offensive load, wanted to get drafted by the Magic before the draft, and has great passing ability.

I'd like to see what other posters think. I left Luka & Ja out because I can't see any scenario where they want to leave their teams by next season.

Aside from Brown and Zach, those guys are " face of the franchise " stars. Don't think thier teams would trade them unless those guys are making their own version of dwightmare

I’m more hopeful that we can get involved in the SGA sweepstakes when he asks out than any of the others in your list.

i think the league has figured out how to guard Trae, so unless he takes his game to another level, and stops trying to be Steph Curry from extreme range, he will have issues carrying the offensive load. Also, Atlanta wouldnt consider that package.

He averaged 28.4 PPG on a .603 true shooting percentage this season

You're not basing this take off one rough playoff series against the No. 1 seed in the East are you?

There's been a good amount of buzz on Donovan Mitchell being moved, and alot can change for Booker if they don't resign Ayton & CP3 prepares to retire by next year.

We've seen a number of players force their way out of teams the past 5-10 years, and that has been the most popular route for big name players being moved to another team, rather than free agency

Against arguably the best defensive team in the NBA on top of it all.

He was getting doubled with ease while his teammates weren't stepping up at all other than Hunter. I'd expect him to have more offensive support from the Magic team a year from now than from his current Hawks roster.

The buzz is either him or Gobert. If you were UTA, who would you keep?

I wouldn't be surprised if they moved both and did a complete rebuild. If they traded one I'd expect them to trade Mitchell & keep Gobert though considering how they were a play-in worthy team without Gobert when he was injured.

As much flak as Gobert gets, there's no question he's their MVP.
