Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part III)
so, we've got the full MLE to spend now... who do you suspect we spend it on?
given that Hamilton just hit free agency, and that the he's a 30+ washed up all star, i'd imagine he'll be our target of choice.
at least he's championship caliber and knows how to play great team D...

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part III)
Why? He was given an opportunity to play with one of the greatest players of all time in one of the most tradition rich NBA cities. Seems like a no brainer..
The reason being is that he's filing ligitation charges, etc. don't want to show up to Camp, the fact remains, NOLA is a franchise that is ran by the NBA, regardless of the trade and where he would have been trade to, it just looks bad, he is a member of the Hornets, and he goes where he pleases as a free agent.
He showed up to camp. And I think everyone involved is for the litigation, not just Paul.

Same here.

For me, it was his tantrum that he supposedly threw, claiming he wouldn't show up to training camp or pursue legal action. Is it really that bad to play pro-ball for millions of dollars in New Orleans? I mean, it's not like anyone is driving him out of town and their management has been actively shopping him. He came off as real self-centered.
I have no problem with his desire to play in LA or with Kobe. But I don't like his attitude toward New Orleans either. I don't think that is fair to their fans or franchise. And same can be said about a lot of NBA players.

Could you make a list of players we could use it on ?
Bulls and Celtics will be in on Rip.

if the Paul trade was CP3 for Bynum + Blake, would you guys feel so strongly against it? personally, i think it would be a fair trade of talent, and would be a good move for the Hornets as a rebuilding franchise.

don't have a list, but, i just thought about Billups as a decent candidate. he's the kind of guy we could offer a 1 year deal to, as well, to retain our flexibility next summer.

Paul to the Lakers is real simple. It must involve Bynum and it must involve the Lakers taking back a bad contract.
The problem with the first trade was the Lakers kept their best trade piece, fixed their cap problems, and also got a top 6 NBA player.

well, players in general handpicking where they want to go, go there during free agency and take the pay cut to play for the Lakers, if ownership is not set in place, then he should wait for free agency, it doesn't seem fair to make the NBA decide the move for a franchise. but still, the way he acted, tweeting wow.... thats why i lost respect. sure the teammates respect were killed or at least hindered today at camp.

exactly, and it looks worse with it coming from a NBA owned franchise at the moment.

LA taking back a bad contract means okafor and he would help them I believe. bynum is really not as bad as some think. if we had to rebuild I would take him. he would ne good for NO.

It is not about whether he helps them, it is about keeping them from being in position to be gifted a 3rd superstar who forces his way out. IE. Dwight Howard.

Oh, I was asking if you could make one for those of us(like me) that don't know what type of players we could make a run at with MLE. If you can't, no worries.

the whole problem with LA getting paul was not the fact they got paul but keeping bynum and having the space to sign dwight leaving the magic the only decision to do is to trade for bynum. That is what was wrong.
