whoa, holy crap. i read that and i think your comments go in circles and address things I didn't address. you also make several assumptions and generalizations about various things that i think are inaccurate or not as widely applicable as you think. but yes there was a misunderstanding. i edited my post before you published your novel.

the other thing I'll say, is i don't care about a basketball players character in real life. I can understand why it is important for GM's and owners making business decisions for their multimillion dollar businesses, but as a fan i don't care one bit what players do in their off time unless it affects their performance negatively like drinking/drugs or getting fat etc.

I'm more of a fan of coaching and strategy and team building by management and smart players and smart plays. this is why trade deadlines and offseasons and drafts are particularly interesting to me and why i dno't really follow college basketball.

some people follow players and idolize them and or their amazing talent and don't care about teams, etc. there's nothing wrong with that.

most of what you are saying sounds like you are very emotionally involved defending dwights off the court life, which i'm sure you really know nothing about.

I like players that are give their all and work hard selflessly with their team to achieve something. give me the eye of the tiger guy any day over the guy who's amazingly talented. gvie me the guy who will hustle and dive and work his fingers to the bone for his team and take every moment and possesion of a game seriously. those are the guys i admire and want on the team.

our teams up and down effort this season, whatever it is attributed to, is what kills me the most this season.

i've followed this team since i moved to central florida in 99, but i'll tell you that I do not own a single dwight jersey, say what you will about hindsight.

:nonono:
I like to be thorough with my posts (usually in a stream of consciousness), so I apologize if what I said became redundant or overstated, but I'm pretty sure I addressed what you said (or what I had interpreted you meant) in each part. It's also 6am in the morning, I didn't really sleep (was busy doing work for my grad school on the side), so that was a factor as well. I apologize if you didn't understand or fully grasped what I was telling you.

I just think we had two different ideas/views of what Presti was (rumored to be) saying about Dwight's character. That's all. I don't think either one of us is wrong. It's all opinion in the end. Let's just agree to disagree... or let's just agree to be really confused and move along awkwardly. I'm going to bed (for some much needed sleep; I probably should have responded back when I was fully functioning... it would have been less confusing and more orderly), later man.

Edit* Wow, I don't have any emotion invested in Dwight's off-court life, and I never claimed to have known anything in his life, that's not the POINT (go back and read, and find where I said anything substantial about Dwight's off the court life... because I didn't. That obviously tells me you didn't get the gist of what I was saying unfortunately). I think you're basing that off of just one or two posts I made in this thread. I have never made these comments about Dwight's personal character or private life beforehand until now (obviously because I HAD TO! We're having a discussion about Dwight's character). I don't care about Dwight's life off the court. I'm just defending my comments about Dwight's character... I'm defending my opinion of character, which we have a different view on... I'm sorry if you don't fully understand or recognize that, I really am. I'm not the type of fan to obsess over a player's personal life (in fact, I never care for a player's personal life. I'm not even a huge Dwight fan to begin with tbh), I never have and I never will be that type of fan, so I resent that statement or assumption you made of me... but I understand you based it off of what I said in my last couple posts (but I guess that's just your way of coming to a conclusion with everything... base things off of "what you want to hear/believe" and poor assumptions)... You have to consider the fact that I was just defending my opinion on "Dwight's character" (come on man, Character was the main TOPIC at hand)... it kind of forces me to go there (talk about Dwight's personal life from a superficial/outside perspective to make my point: saying that he's a good person and Presti shouldn't have to worry about anything IMO... it's just an impression I have of Dwight, that's all... it doesn't make me emotionally invested in his private life, nor does it make me claim to know anything about his personal life). But believe what you want man. It's your opinion. I'm just telling you what I feel and how I feel honestly about Dwight's character. Other than this discussion, I really don't care about Dwight's personal life or what he does outside of basketball, nor do I think his character is poor for a basketball organization or outside of it (which you seem to think it is for some odd baseless reason one way or another).

sorry for the multiple edits, my browser kept refreshing when I was typing*

Defense and patience win titles. Presti is patient enough not to trade his best players. And Ibaka and Perkins are good enough defense presence who don't need ball in offence.

Nice discussion. I like Dwight a lot, always have and I won't hate him for leaving. I think he's gone for sure, don't care if he's 90 gone or 10 gone, he's going to leave IMO. I don't mind messing/scaring some teams with keeping Dwight hostage a few more games to playoffs end, and there's obviously a lot of Orlando love and money going into whats looking like another nice 52 win record and shot at deep playoffs or title, to have one last shot at it, but to also make the new arena money.

The two closest trades I read are terrible (NJ by Woj earlier in season and CHI by Berger now). I see the ownership wants to have a good record post-Dwight and I respect that. I'll keep being a fan. But we're not going to be built to win titles until a new top tier management FO comes in (if we can) and our post-Dwight team bottoms out in 2-3 seasons to cycle in the new proper rebuild era.

View as a NBA and Bulls fan. As most of you guys know, the Maguc FO is in a sticky situation. They have to play both cards, it's kind of PR hell to say Dwight is gone today, tomorrow or any minute until he is traded.

Why I think you haven't heard much about the Bulls offer till last minute, we knew all along the longer it lingered the bulls might get involved at that point then. As much as it was a pipe dream 6 months ago, the offers have dried up or the Magic have turned down or been turned down. As much hate Boozer gets, You're average NBA fan. Not the diehards like us, that casually tune in or your rich fans that sit in the lower bowl. Boozer is a former all star to sell to the fan base. Just my two cents, agree with you all can't wait till this crap is over, I long for the pre-twitter days and social media where info came out every few days.

I don't think so, man.

Anyone who watched SC or the news knows he hasn't been living up to expectations.

I think that we are going to stick it out as is unless they can get someone to cave on a "blockbuster" trade to improve us while keeping Dwight which is highly unlikely.

I think the thought is that we will roll the dice and see what kind of damage we can do in the playoffs. At the end of the year we will try and keep Howard or to attract another FA.

If we gamble and we loose and we don't get Dwight or another FA we it is not that much worse than the crap deals we are being offered.

Unless Dwight has said he is 100% this is probably the best course of action.

Beating Chicago, stomping Indy, and possible wins over Miami & SAS, does this influence Otis' reluctance to trade?

Am I the only one who thinks something is going down with either JJ or J Rich? Out 2-3 games with just a rolled ankle that he even thinks he can come back on, loojs like we are either trying to rest him for a trade, or showcase JJ to make him more attractive to a potential trade partner. Hopefully something is In the works.

^ I wold much rather move JRich as I believe JJ is a more well rounded 2 guard and moving Rich for Beasley or Turk Orton picks for Wallace would be ideal

Yeah really, especially after the effort he put in last night and how far he's come in the past few years. Hopefully GS is still interested in J Rich and we can get involved in a three way with the Bucks and Bogut to land Ellis here.

A good Hoopsworld article with alot about the magic and how BBD is sensitive to the booing at home games!! A good read, also getting into the Bulls trade and lack of a decent offer for Dwight saying that NJ are offering Okur/Farmar and a conditional 1st for Dwight, looks as if we will roll the dice

Honestly Dwight has been my favorite player Since T-Mac left and my friends at USF stay tryna rub it in my face that he's leaving an blah blah...But I care about this ORLANDO MAGIC Team more then I care about any individual player so whatever will make us that team that is determined to WIN is all I care about! And I know all of y'all are just as passionate about the magic as I am, otherwise we wouldnt be on here speculating every detail of every rumor that we hear.

^^^ Yea so I understand keeping him and trying to make a deep run this year no sense in doing the deal with NJ but on the other hand I am sure GSW will still offer Ellis and Lee, if monta could play the point that may not be too bad maybe flip Lee for a C

The only thing that has pissed me off about Dwight is that he has made a few bone headed recommendations on who he wanted to play along side him in Orlando and they have flopped.

Otis went after Big Baby because Dwight demanded him... then once Dwight sees that Big Baby sucks he throws his whole team under the bus except for Big Baby.

I see a guy out there who is only going through the motions. I see ZERO leadership from Dwight Howard. It looks like he does not give a damn while the rest of the team - you know, the "Garbage" players are playing their hearts out.3

Once again, last night we got a huge lead and the smiles, giggling and laughing came out in the 2nd quarter and the Magic almost blew it.

It seems that once Dwight lets his guard down with the laughing and giggling crap... the rest of the team follows.

One thing that really pissed me off last night was during the interview the reporter asked him a question about JJ's play last night and Dwight flat out said "Well, he had some really easy shots out there that fell for him" - WHO SAYS THAT ABOUT A TEAM MATE? So what if they were easy...he still played a great game and Dwight could not say that about JJ.

/RANT OVER.
