Normally, GM does most of the work but the POB has veto power. I'm not sure how it would all work here since Otis had complete power, hockey guy was part of the Devos family, Doctor J (VP) was just a figure head... Man, the Devos' have no idea how to run a sports club.

Maybe it's a good thing that the Sixers are in the mix. It should put a little pressure on the organization to make a move sooner rather than later.

Since Otis messed up the single-power authority concept, Alex said he wants to build a team that will collective make the best decisions going forward. Because of that, and still seeing Bower's name string along during the process, it leads me to believe he'll be hired in some form and may have some kind of power in basketball decisions. Any persons we hire has to "work well with others" to fit the team.

Sorry if I hit a nerve "chunnyboy". You kind of hit my point though. Even when guys look gay, you can't always tell for sure if they really are. There are the flamboyant ones that are easy to pinpoint, but there are some sneaky ones too.

Anyways, it's Hennigan or bust!!!

I would like to give thanks for Skin injecting some life into this thread with his bizarre nonsequitur about Magic executives' sexual orientation. Yes, I said "for Skin," not "foreskin," which would've been quite strange. On a side note: "The Four Skins" would be a phenomenal name for a neo-Nazi barbershop quartet.

What was my point?

I hope we hire Lindsey or Hennigan--and soon.

As for Bower as POB, I'm pretty sure Lindsey isn't coming if he has a guy like Bower "above" him ..

He's probably the backup if the other 2 don't get on the same page with the Family ..

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Spurs exec Dennis Lindsey and Thunder exec Rob Hennigan are going to Grand Rapids, Mich., this week to meet the DeVos family, source says.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
As #Magic GM search enters final stretch, league source says former Hornets GM Jeff Bower may meet with owner Rich DeVos later, but not yet.

So we are for sure interviewing 2 guys from the Spurs organization, 1 of which is with OKC right now. There goes the championship experience.

I think we're going to go with a "team" in the front office. We're not going to have one person determine the fate of the team, like Otis. We'll have some checks and balances to prevent one person from running the team into the ground, which I think is a great idea.
Steve Kyler ‏@stevekylerNBA
RT @_R5_: ---> a Hennigan hire would be interesting... everyone says Alex Martins is assembling a collective -- Rob would fit that plan

Steve Kyler ‏@stevekylerNBA
RT @Magician0110: what do you mean by collective? ---> putting together a team to make decisions, not a single person... is very common

If we're interviewing 2 Spurs guys, 2 guys that come from winning cultures, and both of them are going to Grand Rapids, but not necessarily Bower....then I got a feeling we get both Lindsey and Hennigan. That would be awesome.

Orlando is expected to conclude its GM search by late this week or possibly early-to-mid next week.

This makes me think Bower may be hired in some form for a non-GM position. If so, I'd be ok with that. As long as Lindsey or Hennigan are selected as GM.

This just about does it folks, I'd say we're in the clear on Bower as GM. Yes, I see him maybe being something else, but seems GM is now between Hennigan and Lindsey.

i wouldn't get too excited, the magic are very familiar with bower, a lot more than the other candidates, so a meeting with devos might not be necessary since they already know each other, if bower does have a meeting with devos then you can pretty much call bower the next gm

Sources: Magic narrow GM search to three finalists, considering two hires

Two of the finalists, Spurs executive Dennis Lindsey and Thunder executive Rob Hennigan, are scheduled to meet with members of the DeVos family in Grand Rapids, Mich., in the next couple of days, one of the sources said. The other finalist, former Hornets GM Jeff Bower, has not been scheduled to meet with owner Rich DeVos and other family members yet, but his visit is expected to follow. Orlando is expected to wrap up its GM search by late this week or possibly early-to-mid next week.

The reason for the order of the meetings wasn't clear, but two additional people briefed on the process came away with the impression that the team plans to make two hires -- a president and a GM or a GM and an assistant. Hennigan is a rising star with the Thunder, who face the Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals Tuesday night, but is only 30 years old.

The Magic, however, may need to decide among these three finalists for the top job, as it is unlikely that they'd be able to hire two of them. Lindsey may well back out and decide to stay in San Antonio, as he has done on several occasions in the past. In any event, Lindsey almost certainly wouldn't leave the Spurs for a No. 2 job. Despite his inexperience, Hennigan is highly regarded around the league and also would be unlikely to leave the conference champion Thunder for anything less than complete control. The search for the second hire could very well be conducted by the new GM from another field of candidates.

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins
Jeff Bower, Rob Hennigan & Dennis Lindsey will meet w/DeVoses in Grand Rapids, Mich (confirming what @WojYahooNBA 1st said)

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins
I don't believe that the team will hire 2 of these 3 outright. The person who gets the big job will make staffing choices

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins
It's not out of question that 1 more finalist will jump into the mix. But the Magic have not asked Celtics to speak w/Doc.

My guess is that Rivers will not become a Magic GM finalist. If the Magic wanted to pursue him they'd have started by now.

some of u need to step away from the edge. martins has presented devos with 2 highly sought after GM candidates from championship organizations. bowers is simply a fall back plan, notice how he isn't scheduled to meet with the devos until AFTER Lindsey and Rob do.
