Okafor won't be in the draft. He played really well in the u19 worlds though.

Beautiful.

Have you thought out the process of getting Wall? Do you think he's going to take a pay cut to sign with us? Or do you think our division rival will do a s&t with us?

Then which of our young guys are you willing to lose when we can't afford to resign him? Or should I say them?

There is pretty much zero chance the Wizards dont re-sign Wall. Not to mention, im not sure he is a Henny type of guy. I would love him as our PG, but it aint gonna happen.

We will have the capspace; it just comes down to Washington willing to let him walk (or receive some type of compensation). Not saying they will, but it seems as if teams are becoming a bit more accommodating to players that want to leave.

I could see Denver going after Gerald Wallace, looking to fill that Iguodala/Brewer void. While he wouldn't do anything but help their salary situation, Andre Miller has wanted out of Denver for a while now and could be paired with a Darrell Arthur to make it work. Boston really doesn't get any value back but they help their cap situation and I am not sure they get a better deal for Wallace.

Agreed. Look for a season like last year. A nice start hovering around .500 for awhile (maybe 30 games) to showcase the vets - then the "injuries" to the vets, trades, and full-on tank mode begins.

This isn't about whether or not AA is terrible. He's not - at all. This is about the team doing everything it can to avoid being a middling 7th or 8th seed and getting stuck in mediocrity-ville. The Magic need a top 5 pick next year. Affalo (as well as Jameer and BBD) hurt those chances if they play a lot.

I really see Oladipo and Harkless stepping it up to space out the floor and join a highly versatile three-player lineup with Harris. Makes drafting a Exum, Harrison, Smart so great if we miss out on a BPA like Wiggins or Parker.

Sure.
But I think Hennigan's plan is to win championships - and that line-up above ain't gonna do it.
Here's what this roster WILL look like going into next year.

lottery '14 pick or Max FA
Oladipo (at PG or SG)
Harris/Harkless
lottery '14 pick or max FA
Vucevic

That's the plan. It's clear that's what Henny is setting up to do.

Exactly. This is the type of plan Henny is clearly plotting - though not sure the Wiz kids let Wall even sniff the door.

Yeah...with so many significant players changing teams this summer, there are bound to be several surprises.

We are looking for those fringe playoff teams that either take a huge stride in internal improvement or their FA acquisitions fit in better than expected.

For example, a team like Dallas could return to relevancy with the signings of Calderon & Ellis. Those two should play well together and if Dirk has an entire healthy/productive season, they will be in good shape. They could be looking to add a BBD or Afflalo to come off the bench and provide something extra.

Another team could be Detroit. Who knows if the pairings of Drummond, Monroe, and Smith will work out. But there IS a ton of potential there if things mesh correctly. Billups gives them a nice stabling force at the PG position and someone that may bring out the best in Brandon Knight. Someone like Afflalo could have some value to them to bring a little more balance to the offensive end.

New Orleans made moves that imply that they are looking to get in to playoff contention sooner than later. If Jrue comes in and proves he is a legit All-Star...paired with a big improvement from Anthony Davis in year 2...you could be looking at another team that wants to add another piece. Glen Davis is a type of player they don't have and would fit nicely next to Anthony Davis. Rivers also looks like he has improved a good bit after his first summer league showing.

Point is...there are always those teams that don't really EXPECT to compete but are trying to get to that level. We just have to wait for them to reveal themselves. Hopefully it is the Bucks.

Imagine it from the Wizard's POV. They'll either make the playoffs this season, or be very close. They're gonna want to keep Wall no matter what, even if he wants out. But, they're also going to have a solid pitch for him - they'll have the cap room to add a max FA to partner with him.

To get him off them, they're going to want a PG in return (since they'll already have Beal and Porter there), and more youth/talent. We don't have a PG to send back to them, and our most expendable prospect at this point is probably Harkless - and he would be duplication with Porter.

Otherwise, it comes down to offering Wall a 2 year MAX contract with a player option after 1 year. Ensures he gets max money as opposed to a qualifying offer, and gives him the freedom to leave after. Once that deal is on the table Washington might realize how serious he is to leave and negotiate a s&t.

With the Bucks striking out on Teague; would anyone deal Nelson to them?

hmmm....i cant see why they wont match any contract offer he gets, or offering him one of their own.

Who or what do you think they would give up for Nelson? They will probably just resign Jennings to go with Mayo.
