interesting that they mention Malone then, because he isnt exactly a proven head coach and has been a head coach for less than 2 years.

Karl, Malone, Skiles is my order. I like Karl because 1) track record (1100+ wins) 2) a good balance between macro and micro managing 3) a system that would work with our young guys (focusing on running, assisting and taking good shots)

Skiles would certainly instill a defensive effort, but I worry he's too old school for our under 22 crowd and will run them off to greener pastures.

I get what you're saying but if that's the case then we need to evaluate our players toughness. This is why you wont see guys like Kobe, Jordan, or Miller in this generation because they're all softies.

It's not that they are soft per say, it's that they are used to getting their way. That's what you get with pampered millionaires. If you have a Karl come in and say "'I've got 1100 wins, do this and you'll be successful" it lends itself better than "I've taken a couple teams to the playoffs before getting run out of 3 different teams, do what I say!" That being said, Karl may have no interest in the job, so it's a moot point.

That's true and I agree. I had Karl at the top of my list. I'm just giving people **** for being so whiny about hiring a fiery coach. Hey, we all wanted a guy that's going to go after refs and defend our guys instead of emotionless looks of confusion. You might have it.

Probably because he's as good as advertised.

I find it hard to believe that Karl would have no interest in this job. He publicly stated how badly he wants to be a head coach again, he even said 3-5 years he has left at least. Maybe he feels Sacramento will hire him and they came first and he wants to stay out west??

If Jackson interviews I think he will get it. He can turn it around just like he did at GS.

Yep, I'd take Skiles over a lot of guys. Especially if we don't want to try another first timer. He's certainly not the worst choice, just not the guy I'd prefer.

Don't count on Karl. Skiles would be the easiest transition because his assistants would have experience with our D-League, but I really don't want it to be him.

I don't know about Skiles... That seems to be a mistake if we hired him... Wayyyyy too old school for this team.

I'm thinking Mike Malone right now... Though I know the Magic want experience. I don't like any of those coaches besides Malone...

At the end of the day all I want is a competitive hard nosed team. A team with lots of heart. Let's just get this hiring done asap.

Kidding me...harkless is throwing a damn party right now.

Here's a little profile breakdown of Skiles http://www.nba.com/coachfile/scott_skiles/
This is mainly Snoopy who said Skiles is the same as Vaughn. Here's an excerpt.

November 28, 2003, and inherited a 4-12 team. Following that season, he went on to guide the team to three consecutive seasons of better than 40 wins (45.7 average) and three postseason appearances, which followed a six-year playoff drought for Chicago. The Bulls won 49 games in 2006-07, their most since they went 62-20 in ’97-98, and swept the defending NBA champion Miami Heat 4-0 in the first round of the 2007 NBA playoffs.
Just proved you wrong that was easy. read the rest.

I was refreshing twitter and RealGM to find out when it happened, now I will be refreshing to find out who will be our next coach lol. FWIW Any of the coaches considered would be an instant upgrade, so I wouldn't mind Skiles.

Mark Jackson is unprofessional, big ego, he is a jerk and a bad person, and does not put all his effort into coaching. Said he was a part time coach and full time pastor. He will also try to turn the players against management. Not a good option.

I didn't know Skiles was arrested in college for cocaine and marijuana possession and served a brief jail sentence.... Doesn't seem like the kinda guy DeVos would employ.

not sure about all the personal stuff, but he had a bunch of demands with GS. He still lived in LA, and to me didn't seem totally committed.

I would love Karl, I think he's a great teacher, and maximizer of talent. His name could also help bring in FAs, compared to a hard azz like Skiles.
