Can't blame him- bigger payday and hopefully will be far away from this loser franchise and onto a team that values progress and winning.

Man we are going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and replace Ennis. Iwundu might be the best available, since we don't have any money.
We should roll the dice on Josh Jackson.

I'd rather take a shot at a 2nd round pick vs Iwundu on a multi year deal. Iwundu is a 1 year league minimum guy ala MCW

There aren't a whole lot of FA's this year, and the ones that are out there will be heavily courted by the contenders with the MLE or more. There isn't a ton of draft guys this year either. Of course they should draft for need in the 1st either.
I mean I guess they could run Okeke out there with Fournier and MCW (if they can re-sign). I really hope they don't play AG out of position at the SF any more. For his sake and ours.

We can use MLE to get Harkless and get similar value for Ennis :dontknow:

I'd put a mortgage payment down that our starting lineup opening night is

Fultz
Fournier
AG
Aminu
Vuc

I would be with you if this is some better quality draft like 2018 one. But this draft looks like 2014 one, without Embiid. Bunch of teams being too exited and desparate to move up and down. Magic in 2014 surrendered their 76ers pick just to move from 12# to 10# and draft Payton over Šarić.

That was partially because the previous FO couldn't hide their excitement for Payton, and got totally fleeced. I am with you there are probably no day one starters at SF in this draft. Okoro is probably the closest thing and he seems like he will struggle a lot.

i know i got super annoyed about Magic draft in 2014.
First of all they could not stop drafting players who could not shoot, acting like players will just devleop into great shooter later ( some do, mot don't ), second it was so obvious that they are reaching HAAARD just to get a PG in draft that had no quality point guards.

To me, imo, most important part about draft is know what's realistic to get and what is not. If you suck and need center in this draft, after Wiseman is gone, you have to understand this is not draft where you will find your long term solution. Instad of taking some dude projected to be selected 15 slots later, take BPA, give him 20 -25 mpg, maybe he willl end up being better than you think, if not, make a trade for a center later :dontknow:

Would you guys be open to signing Rodney Hood using the MLE, lets say similar contract to Aminu 3yr./27m

If healthy, he's literally a perfect fit especially with Ennis opting out.

Kind of a semi-low risk high reward situation. He was playing some of his best ball pre-injury. I have always personally been a fan.

I just dont envision Okeke starting day 1 and our wing depth is non-existent (I dont envision us retaining neither Iwundu or Frazier).

I don't dislike Hood's game or fit but I'm worried about getting locked into a bunch of guys in the 9-20m range clogging our cap without making a significant contribution (Aminu, Hood, TRoss, AG, Evan). Particularly with Fultz and Isaac up for extensions. Depending on trades or draft picks, I'd like to see us go financially sound and/or grab a big vet by combining some of those guys (Hayward, Westbrook, anybody  )...IMO, giving Hood the MLE is just more of the same treadmill stuff. Each of those guys' deals make sense on their own, but the roster is the definition of meh as a whole. Could do a lot worse than Iwundu. 2 seasons ago, when he got a lot of run, he was pretty good - maybe his shot has improved...either one of them would (hopefully) be a placeholder, so why spend?

after watching this, 4 year later, it's not hard to figure why Ainge thought Tatum is better prospect than anybody in 2017.

I dont see the "low risk, high reward" of this move
I wouldnt say 9m is "low risk"
We made that mistake with aminu and are now stuck with him for 2 more years at 9m a year, which i get isnt a crazy high number, but you can get so many better players for 9m, and aminu sucks so bad that we would likely have to throw in draft picks to trade him

as for Hood.....whats the upside? hes 28 and about to join his 4th team....kinda says something to the type of player he is, really not seeing the "high reward". I wouldnt do it

If we are saying 9m is low risk, id much rather give that money to a guy like say Harry Giles (assuming AG gets traded) and see if he regains his pre-injury form and lives up to his potential. Now i wouldnt want to actually give him 9m a year, but if i had to pick between those 2 guys, im taking giles potential over Hoods body of work

Aw, what the hell... trade fultz, bamba and fournier for westbrook. Then draft a RW replacement PG at #15.

Westbrook
Iwundu
Okeke
AG
Vooch

Has the protections on the 2021 pick been released? 2021 draft is suppose to be DEEP so I could see the allure, but I'm glad our front office isn't doing a trade just to do a trade.

I thought someone said lottery protected. The West is going to be rough, so that could go either way, but you know Portland is gunning for the playoffs.

I take this to mean that we don't really like what's available in the middle of the first round. Two mid-first-round picks doesn't seem to be bad value for Gordon. Either we have had more favorable discussions regarding Gordon, or they just aren't that keen on moving him.

We're def. keen to move him, I think thats pretty obvious by now but we aren't moving him for an underwhelming package. I am certain we have had more favorable discussions for him or simply trying to raise his value, the best option just may be holding him until this seasons deadline and allow him to play PF full-time and put up godly numbers without Isaac interfering with that.

I still think we use him in some form to move up.

Minny fans online are happy. Suggesting they swoop in with an offer of Culver + #17.

Does anyone do this?

I haven't kept up with Culver this year but snooping around on their board, they think he's 6th man at best. So going by the assessment of the fans that watched him all season, 6th man + mid pick in a weak draft for AG....Pass.

now, i liked him coming out of the draft and felt he just needed to improve his shooting. If he has the foundation to build on, and we HAD to trade AG...I wouldn't mind Culver + different pick (maybe '21 or '22).

Culver was statistically one of the worst players in the NBA.
