No weakness in his game.

I also read that Suggs has never dedicated all his time to basketball because of football or school. He's already great but he might still be a late bloomer.

Was just listening to Windhorst podcast...I knew Suggs was a big time HS football player but they said he had offers from BAMA :o among others...confirm?

he did not. But he did from UGA, OSU, Nebraska, Iowa, Mich St, and a bunch of other traditional football powers.

Damn. That's impressive...I lived in Tallahassee during the Charlie Ward era and there's no denying the toughness in a great steady point guard with a football mentality...It's like bumping an MMA guy in a bar, they just smile at you.

definitely helps with the mindset when you attack the basket through contact.

I'll just say that the screaming, jumping for joy, && overall belligerent reaction my buddy and I had in a Tallahassee bar last night to Toronto passing on Suggs and us not ending up with Barnes didn't go over so well with the 95% of Seminole fans who were in there, but it was so worth it.

To finally catch a break after all the years of being one pick away, felt amazing.

Suggs was 2B on my board && is someone you build a franchise around. He's not just a cerebral basketball player, but when you go and listen to some of his interviews over the draft process you can't be anything else but blown away by the maturity and intellect he displays.

He's a guy you hand the keys to and don't think twice about it.

Still hyped about this after sleeping on it!!!

Even if he (maybe) doesn't quite have the upside to be a true #1 on a championship team, I think he can be a solid #2 and a leader of the franchise, making everyone around him better.

^Toronto didn't pass on Barnes, but I guess the Seminoles fans were hoping for him to stay in Florida? Otherwise you'd think they'd be hyped for him to go that high

Fultz clear dominance in three-point shooting really comes through in these metrics.

Oops.

Sorry, I’m sure this has been covered to death already in this thread and I know we discussed it in the draft prospect evals.

Still … now that it is more real (and I’m too lazy to go back through each page):

Where does Suggs fit? What is our rotation?

PG: Fultz, Cole
SG: Suggs, RJ

Or do we look to trade someone?

I think Fultz is gone.

Cole/RJ are true combo guards who can play next to Suggs && regardless, I don't think we see Fultz until Feb/Mar this season anyways. I expect him to get moved at the trade deadline or next summer. His contract is basically expiring at that point with the team option included in his final year.

Cole has always been a microwave bench scorer imo. I'd keep developing him as that. RJ has the upside && is someone I'd like to try to develop next to Suggs at SG.

As of today it probably looks like :
Suggs/Cole
Harris/RJ

When Fultz gets back around ASB it could look:
Suggs/Fultz
RJ/Cole

Have to imagine Harris on an expiring will be moved but that depends on his health. Suggs is your best PG from day 1 but can also play off ball with Fultz who needs the ball in his hands. I think Fultz/Cole would need to be split up/play spot minutes only as they both seem to be 1's with not a lot of off ball capabilities, Cole could sneak into off ball though.

HOT TAKE
Fultz could quite possibly be the odd man out in 2 years if that shot doesn't improve to NBA minimum %'s.

I think Cole is better playing off ball/ secondary ball handler. He showed some flashes of playmaking but I still think his role is gonna be bucket getter off the bench. I think all 4 of Fultz, Cole, Suggs and RJ can play together in different combos. I think its gonna be pretty fun. Ultimatly someone will have to be traded but in the short term I think its fine.

Congrats guys, your team is gonna be sick.

I think Barnes fit with your team’s overall picture. They definitely see Siakam type of development with Barnes.
