Took a little time to process but I absolutely love the pick...

I gotta give them props I did not think they had the Gull to take the swing on banchero but I like it.

I will admit I think fit is a bit odd since Paolo seems to need rhe ball to be effective but I love how they swing foe the fences on a guy who I think has the most "it" factor our the top 3.

If Paolo isn’t given the keys to the offense from day 1 I’m going to need everyone on the Magic payroll fired.

Just back from being out for the day, muted notifications on my phone and watched the draft coverage from the start. Wow congrats and welcome to the Magic Paolo!!! I was vocal about needing a shooter, so was leaning to Jabari, but Paolo has a real shot of being THE MAN. I don't care about defensive weaknesses, because even people like Steph Curry have shown with desire & effort people can become passable and he obviously has the physical tools. Can't wait to see him on the court.

I'm excited to see what he can bring as a real focal point of the offense. I think him & Franz could make a deadly duo!

As others have said, the thing now is fit / rest of the roster. I believe WCJ will work just fine, and I love what he brought, and the combo with Franz. But my god we need some shooters in the worst way, if we trot out Fultz / Suggs / Franz / Paolo / WCJ that paint is going to be stacked. Need to get on that WeHam ...
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

So im probably not alone here, but i was not at all prepared for Paolo to be #1. Not because i dont think he deserves it, but i just didnt think he was on our radar and therefore didnt invest the energy into him.

But now that the pick is made, i couldnt be happier. Hes what this team has lacked for so so long, a legit alpha male focal point for us on offense. I just watched his sweet 16 game vs Texas Tech, and his size, ability, vision, clutch gene, scoring instinct gave me late career Lebron vibes. Im not saying he will be the next Lebron, but his physical profile and ability to do a bit of everything is reminiscent of him. His shooting stroke is a little Bron-like also.

This could be a really good pick. Im very excited.

Did the Magic get caught? They knew hou wanted Paulo and didn't workout JS. Also prolly knew okc wanted chet so they drafted Paulo to try to force hou to trade for "their guy" and it backfired.. this press conference kinda sounded like a justification for drafting PB at #1.. did det have a presser after drafting cade while the draft was still going on?

Did we watch the same press conference? They literally couldnt have been more excited about Paolo for 12 minutes straight. He was CLEARLY their guy all along, and the rest was just gamesmanship trying to see if they could get him at #3.

The idea that we are "stuck" with a player at the #1 spot is borderline moronic.

Just saying.. is it common for a FO to hold a press conference after drafting the #1 pick... during the draft?

For the Magic? Yes. They’re elderly and need to get to bed. For most other teams? No.

Meh. Little let down. Not because we picked Paolo, if he is the guy he is the guy. I'm pulling for the kid to be the guy we've been needing. He could very well be it. I just felt confident we could have grabbed him at 3, OKC was always going Chet. And even if Houston moved up to 1 and took Paolo oh well Jabari would have been there (Still think he is a better fit, we need shooting badly, plus he felt like the only 1 of the 3 who actively wanted to be here.). I just think it was a missed opportunity to move back to 3 and probably still get the guy you wanted or a helluva consolation and grab some stuff off Houston. Boston did it in 18' and long behold they were in the Finals this year.

I don't think there was an awful pick between the 3 but Paolo was my 3rd. Im a Phins fan so I'm dealing with the trauma of wanting Herbert and drafting Tua. It's not as bad but I am traumatized lol. My slight disappointment will turn into optimism soon. Hope Paolo is that dude and we can finally turn this thing around.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

Interesting theory, I don't know if that was the case but I'm sure it happened many times in the past, maybe with Hinkle taking Okafor when he already had Embiid and Noel.
Either way no one is going to admit that, and it's not like there was a clear cut #1 out of the top 3, so it seems unlikely.

It's also possible that Banchero was always the pick and Jabari was the smoke screen to get the Rockets to trade up.

What brings real excitement is winning and a star. Hopefully Banchero brings that for us.
