Goga is No. 3

With JI at 13, 3 of the top 15 defensive players in the league play for the Magic.

Not sure how valid this is when #3 in the league is collecting DNPs on a defensive minded team

That was from when Goga was starting. The EPM develops week to week as games get played. Goga still scores v highly defensively for the games he has played - 96th percentile. Suggs also has dropped to 96th percentile!

Edit: Sorry, I see your point now. Well, I'd argue our paint defense was much better with Goga than with WCJ. EPM reflects that. Magic is getting way more help from Isaac now than they were then.

I get it...and I'm hoping WCJ is being showcased to be honest. If he's not in the future plan, trade the #3 defensive guy in the league now - while he's under contract.

Saw an interesting stat line for Banchero tonight whilst trawling his splits: Wins and Losses.

The counting numbers are almost identical win or lose, but the efficiency numbers are worlds apart.

Image

43% from 3!
59% TS%
24.6% AST%
118 ortg

Can't be bothered doing pictures of the others, but Franz is similar in that his numbers are very consistent, with the only major difference being that he just doesn't make shots in the losses. In his 39 wins compared to his 23 losses, it's a difference of 2fgm's and 1ftm which add up to a 5 point swing for Franz.

In 39 W's
21.6ppg, 62% TS%, 118 ortg, 103 drtg, 25.7% USG

In 23 L's
16.8ppg, 49% TS%, 104 ortg, 117 drtg, 24.7% USG

As for consistency, the guys bring the winning efficiency 60% of the time, which is elite for such young guys.

Another interesting stat: Post Allstar Break, the Magic have been a top 10 team in 3pt shooting, averaging 37.4%.

We’re still 2nd last in attempts, but last place is Denver. Denver is tied for the best record in the league and Orlando is tied for 3rd best record Post ASB.

The team is really finding form down the stretch and turning weaknesses into strengths!

I posted in that NY/Orl thread on the general board earlier about the Magic's 3pt shooting. They're 11th in the league since Jan 1st at 37.1%. That is 38 games or more than half the season. Not exactly a small sample size. Our shooters are gaining more confidence. Harris found his shot again. Cole i believe has improved. WCJ is shooting much better. Mo is shooting better.

I believe one reason is because the passing is much more accurate now. They're finding shooters and letting them catch and shoot quickly and comfortably. Earlier in the season the passes were inaccurate and the shooters would have to reach to catch them and re-adjust. Its also Paolo just being able to find shooters better than he did earlier in the season.

11th in the league while Franz is still struggling is impressive. We need Franz to find his shot going into the play offs. Then we'll have 5 starters all capable of making threes.

Mosely has been saying he wants the team to play their best basketball going into the play offs, and thats exactly what's happening.

Yeah I think a lot of offensive problems will settle as Paolo becomes more comfortable and versatile as a playmaker, and as other guys get more comfortable with their shooting. It’s still going to be a multi-season growth, but they’re turning corners much faster than expected!

The team continues to post strong numbers post ASB in spite of some frustrating tight losses, with a top 5 record of 13-6.

We've got the league's best drtg at 105.7, with 2nd being 107.6, so a solid margin.

Our ortg has fallen to 19th at 112.4, but we're still top 5 in netrtg.

We're a top 10 team in 3pt%, and we're 9th in TS%.

Those numbers continue to trend upwards en route to the playoffs. Nice.

F-Wagner must average 23 ppg to close out the season, if he plays in all 8 final games, to get to 20.0 ppg for the season.

So what is the Isaac impact. Are his numbers good enough to justify starting come playoff time? Is this a foregone conclusion? Is this the endgame for him?

Posted this in the game thread:

Bensational wrote:Isaac and Ingles are the secret to our success. Ingles leads the regular rotation players in individual ortg with 116, and Isaac is 114. Ingles has a netrtg of 5.8, which is 2nd on the Magic. Isaac's drtg is 101 with a netrtg of 12.9, which is crazy good. Elite good.

For reference, Amongst all players who have played 50 games + and 15mpg+ Isaac is ranked 3rd in the league in netrtg :o When you realise that a lot of the other players are Boston (so they collectively prop each other up), Isaac stands out for his individual impact.

In answer to your question- no, I don’t think he starts. But he definitely finishes games. How quickly he’s called to first sub in is probably a game time thing.

Race against time- Vemby vs quadra double. Is world ready for it? Tonight was close. Just needed 1 block and 2 assists.

Honestly if he was healthy I would start him.

I'll bet the house he gets a quadruple double next season. He'll break Hakeem's record for them if he stays healthy in his career
