Re: AB the PG development thread
Now that Anthony Black doesn't have an overpaid bust mentoring him he’s better off.
He had a good first game and had some good games last year.
He has yet to prove that he is any good at all however.
He gets the benefit of the doubt.
If he becomes good enough the Magic might not have enough money to pay him if he isn’t starting. Isaac is the Magic’s luxury bench player.
We are entering a hard cap era so Anthony Black will either be no better than Cole Anthony or traded.

Re: AB the PG development thread
You can see the growth on AB. But he still seems uncomfortable taking the lead ball handler roll. But he is improving.
I'd like to see his growth. Like I said preseason, AB's growth and potential success could be the X Factor in deciding this team's ceiling.
I abide to my words.

Re: AB the PG development thread
I like how AB is keeping his dribble going instead of picking the ball up. He let Jaime Jaquez off the hook once in the last game. AB had JJ so off balance and should've blown by him for the layup.
In theory, AB was a good passer, and now we're starting to see it.

Let’s take a look at how that’s working out for Utah tonight:
All while leading his team with a +/- of -37
I’ll let it go now

Year of AB!
I’m giving him as many minutes possible. Need him to be ready for the playoffs.

Re: AB the PG development thread
AB is currently 6th on the team in mpg, but 3rd in touches and front court touches, and 2nd in AST% and apg behind Paolo. He’s also 1st in 3pt%.
Big couple of games for him to start the season!

Super proud of this kid, he has improved so much. He has proven me wrong. It wouldn’t shock me if he starts next year, if not this year.

PG-AB
SG-Suggs
Backups:
PG:??
SG: KCP
That is where we’re headed. Maybe not this year but soon enough.

Re: AB the PG development thread
I'm starting to think he's got all-star upside within a reasonable range.

Re: AB the PG development thread
It’s only 3 games, but it’s night and day different. Here’s how AB is stacking up by some of the numbers:
MPG - 5th (currently even ahead of Suggs)
PPG - 6th
APG - 2nd (tied with Franz, behind Paolo)
Potential Assists - 2nd with 7.7 (behind Paolo with 9)
Touches - 3rd
Front court touches - 3rd
Drives - 2nd on the team with 5.7, only behind Paolo
He has really taken on a much bigger role so far this season and by the numbers the team is much better for it whenever he’s on the court.

Glad he's getting minutes and touches. Love what I'm seeing.

Re: AB the PG development thread
It's been fun watching AB drive to the rim in attack mode every chance he gets. He's showing pretty good bbiq and composure for a 20 year old. I really hope he keeps this up. Maybe a 6th man of the year candidate and most improved player candidate as well. Long season though

Do you think that he ll end up the year averaging more assists, minutes, points, etc.... Than Cole?
