He's not starting. I don't know how much he'll play obviously.

Our starting NT also is "not starting" against NCSU.

I believe we have 6 defensive starters that were held out of practice, clearly not a good sign.

One of the things where USF differs from a program like UF is depth (and the lines). Injuries played a large part in the meltdown last year, hopefully this year won't be a repeat.

On a side note Mompremier, the guy who went to the hospital, was a spectator at practice on Monday but Leavitt won't even have him evaluated to see if he can go for another two weeks just in case. Mompremier quoted himself as saying he "wouldn't know how to hit a guy" now, so I'm going forward expecting him to be done personally.

The lines posted on Thurs? What if I want to pick Oregon State going over USC? LOL, better get those odds up before the first game ;).

Looking at the current lines, the Friday game (quickly becoming Big East night) is a bit perplexing, Louisville the 3.5 pt favorite over UConn? UConn did manage to co-win the conference last year and is 4-0 this year, lol.

Penn State is a heavy favorite for those of you that think they're not legit yet. I'll wait for the odds to be posted before I remark further though!

Here they are, sorry for the format.

Same deal as last week, pick three upsets, the spread is used just for bracketing the picks, not the final score

one game with 3.5 spread or lower

another with a spread between 4 and 9.5

the last upset pick with a spread of 10 or higher

Gerhalt was last weeks winner with 2 correct.

Here we go:

Memphis over Arkansas ST (-1.5)

Virginia over Duke (-7)

Illinois over Penn State (-14)

There were some others, but I feel too attached to pick them!

UConn over Louisville
VT over Nebraska
Miss. State over LSU

just kidding on the last one

Marshall over WVU

The 10+ is a tough pick, nothing really stands out as a possible upset with the exception of Penn State.

You don't get extra credit!

If Marshall beat WVU, that might cause a collapse of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Bill Stewart might need an emergency rescue too.

I was thinking about Oregon State over USC, but after checking how they have been playing I said no way. Well guess who is leading yep it's not USC. The wild crazy wacky world of college football in the PAC-10.

So, if OSU was to upset USC, would this add or take away Pac 10 credibility?

The Pac 10 has been looking very meek so far, especially with Oregon down to their 5th string QB.

One could say the same thing about the Big 10 considering that their number one team got wiped off the face of the earth by a PAC-10 team. So what does that say about either conference if OSU beats USC.
And as of now at 4 seconds to halftime Oregon is leading USC 21-0 who would have thought this could happen.

Wow, I thought USC wouldn't do too well tonight, but I never imagined this.

Isn't that the point of a thread like this? You don't see a new UCF thread for every game.

On the topic of the game though, what a great game. Oregon State looked like absolute garbage against Penn State so I expected them to be beaten pretty badly, though I also thought they could put up a fight, I didn't think they could hold off USC very long.

To answer the question posed by craig, it makes the usc-10 look worse because if a team like Oregon State is able to beat them it certainly doesn't bode well for such a top heavy conference. It also helps Penn State look good, if they beat Illinois this weekend, they'll be very favorably ranked.

But it also makes the Big 10 look real bad considering the ass wiping that USC gave Ohio State don't you think.

Yes, but the Big 10 is overrated, people have figured this out though. USC at least gave the image that the Pac 10 was good.

It will be SEC vs Big 12 this year. Those 2 conferences are head and shoulders better than the rest.

At this point, I'm wondering if the MWC > Pac 10.

I know USC will bounce back and probably go 11-1 or 10-2 at the worst, but this is bad news for the conference after the Pac 10 sucked OOC and USC mailed it in against Oregon State.
