If we don't make a move soon other than Clark for today and this weekend, we're probably sticking with this line-up and Davis will just back-up Dwight a long with Orton. I DO like this roster, I just think the PG (More this IMO) or SF position needs to be addressed if we're going to be serious about winning a championship this year. Time will tell.
In some weird way, I feel like our team has really good depth this year. I think Davis is an upgrade over Bass. If Hughes is Nelson's back-up, that will push Duhon to 3rd string. J-Rich will be more comfortable in the offense this year. Redick off the bench is always big for us. Wafer is not a bad 3rd string. Liggins and Harper, although they won't play much, are great insurance pieces to have in case of injuries. Anderson off the bench is big as well. Our SG and PF spots have great depth. And now with the recent re-signing of Clark, our SF spot is in good hands as well. Hedo/Clark/Q-Rich will give us good ball-movement, point-forward action, size, and defense from that position. The only real position that's sketchy is the back-up C. Orton is a huge question mark, but I still expect a nice contribution for him in the few minutes he'll receive.
This team is about as equivalent, depth-wise, to the 2009 Magic team imo. 2010 and 2011 didn't pan out due to the personnel changes on the court, and SVG's system taking a while to adjust to. This year come be lining up to be a good year for us. I can't believe I'm saying this, "but I like this".![]()
However, I still feel like we should actively and continuously pursue a secondary star for Dwight, as well as clear cap space for the future.
Agreed. Not having Redick during our regular season nearing the playoffs knocked off a few W's for sure. Also, all the time out of working out and not getting any play time sucked for him in the playoffs but he still did decent considering the circumstances...
Our roster is better than last playoffs for sure. Having Duhon 3rd string (I hope) will also be a big help if Hughes turns out to be a solid backup for Jameer. You're right about Anderson being big off the bench, that's good. Davis is gonna create a lot more movement on the floor than Bass did. His leadership in the locker room has proved to be irreplaceable over Bass.
I hope Orton isn't a bust, and I kind of hope we make one more move this weekend...not a bad one though.

Dwight Howard made 8 of his last 10 FTAs. I think he's just messing around because 6 straight makes were off the backboard.
okay I'm convinced.. he's making FTs this year... and we're going to be winning all those close games we usually lose because of it.
Its practice man. Were talking about practice. not a game, not a game. Practice. were talking about practice.

If dwight makes his FT, with BBD being an upgrade (a large one IMO) from bass, having orton to pick up even a few minutes, if turk is back to his 09 shape and the possibility of getting something out of the rookies.
We got screwed at the end of the last season with the injuries to JJ, Jrich and turk.
I know it is a lot of if's but this team could be as good if not better than the 09 team.

Once again, when common sense prevails over madness on the Magic braod
. Now that the furor has died down we realize that we're not in a bad spot and have a pretty damn good team. Our depth is gonna be huge considering we are bound to have some injuries with all those back to backs this season. Even better we still have the ability to get a borderline all star via trade. I'm praying for either Iggy, or Monta. Do ya'll think Iggy could play the point?

If we got Iggy, I would fully expect him to be used as a facilitator... he's a better point-forward than Hedo obviously... and he can score (15-20ppg), dish the rock (5-6apg, and increasing each season), and grab boards (5-6rpg, and increasing each season)... he's had a few near triple-double games... so in theory, yes, you will see Iggy play point... it will be from the SF position though... but yes, I wouldn't want him to do anything else (other than defend obviously, which is his strength as well). but play point for us and initiate the offense (run off high screens, entry pass to Dwight in low-block, cut/slash, move the ball, attack the basket, etc.)

If Bynum starts off the year with a bang, its a definite possibility. But I'd almost rather keep Bynum if that is the case, hard to find a good center nowadays
EDIT: Would like to find a way to keep Beidrins out of it, never liked him much

Insider: Magic Should Sign Jermaine Taylor - Carson Ingle
http://www.espnflorida.com/magic-should ... ne-taylor/
http://www.espnflorida.com/magic-should ... ne-taylor/
...There is another transaction that will be a lot easier to make and please at least one grouping of Central Florida sports fans. Bringing former UCF star and area native Jermaine Taylor home to play for the Magic would be a great story.
Taylor was all set to sign with the Houston Rockets this week, but failed his physical. Still, it has been reported that he is mostly healed from an ankle injury he suffered and that the Rockets plan to sign him in two weeks.
However, due to the three-team trade of Chris Paul that fell through, there is no guarantee that Taylor would head back to the Lonestar State. UCF’s all-time leading scorer in the Division 1 era was poised to become a major asset in Houston with Kevin Martin and possibly Courtney Lee heading to New Orleans.
With the opening, Smith and the Magic should swoop in and pick up the man who was once the second most popular basketball player in Orlando to Howard. They have already seen Taylor shine on their home court.
Last February while with the Sacramento Kings, he had 21 points on 9-12 shooting in a Kings victory...
