How about that update "tomorrow"? :)

Well, I'm not enjoying this offseason as a magic fan, but there's so much going on on other fronts that one can't complain!

BTW What PG are you talking about trading for or signing? There are NONE available that fits the youth movement we are going for, I don't want to spend a ton of money/assets on another average guard.[/quote]

This is why it might be good to wait till next years draft. There probably wont be a team drafting ahead of us that needs a point guard which would mean even if we fall to 6-8 we still might get the first point guard taken.

Glad you already have focus on it. It's the truth that many overlook. They see how much cap space we have in the Summer of 2014 and think "What Max FA can we go for???" I hear that and always think about how crippling a move that would be for our long term future. We just need to stay the course and not go overboard in our FA spending.

It's funny how opinions differ. I am loving this offseason so far. We got the guy I wanted in the draft. Didn't blow our wad on going after Bledsoe (I would have been happy to have him, but the asking price was too much). We still have tradeable assets and at least one is likely to go before the start of the season. We haven't made any foolish FA deals.

Everything is right on target for me.

I'm kinda surprised we haven't been mentioned in talks for either Ridnour or Barea. Ridnour would be a really nice stabling force at the PG position for us. He is not going to really help us win games, but he is the kind of PG that will help in the development of our young guys on offense. Barea is a nice backup PG as well, but I think that Ridnour would be the best fit.

Orlando Trades:
Aaron Afflalo
E'Twaun Moore

Minny Trades:
Luke Ridnour
Derrick Williams
2016 First Round Pick

or for those that aren't too keen on D-Williams...take him out and add in a couple of Minny's 4 2014 2nd Round Picks.

If you look through all the teams & the differentials in salary:

Vuc has the HIGHEST differential I believe....Followed by Steph Curry.

I don't know if this is a amateur question but can we go and watch the Summer League in person? Is it at the Amway?

The Orlando Summer League games aren't open to the public. Yeah it's at Amway.

give me John Wall over anybody on this team at this point. if we can get him for a max deal, then we need to jump on it (obviously, pending on how the 2014 draft pans out). other than him, though, i'm not sold on any other 2014 FAs being a good fit for this team. then again, i'm not sold that everyone on this team is worth spending all our cap space on, either. OKC didn't commit salary to guys until they showed that their potential translated into wins. that's a catch 22, because we want to see our guys really fulfill their potential, but we also don't want to win too much this season. thankfully we've got until 2015 to ink an extension with Vuc and Harris.

"Oladipo plans to take a small break after summer league and then get back into training. He will also spend time watching video of slashers such as Dwyane Wade and point guards Westbrook and George Hill, who both played shooting guard in college."

sounds good and what I would love to see each player do.. know your strength and study films of a great player that u think ur game compares to..

he also stuck around to watch all the other summer league games in day 1 and 2... said he's a rookie so he just wants to watch and learn seeing how there are players from all different levels and regions.

John Wall over Dipo? This may be crazy but I'd pass. Dipo showing point guard skills and getting to the line is exactly what I wanted to see from him. I ride it out and expect him to be the better player all things considered.

I noted this in the "Can Oladipo be a point guard" thread. Now, why would he be watching videos of college shooting guards who made the transition to point guard? Hmmmmm? :)

Did anyone see the quote today from Oladipo: "I am a point guard." I can't remember where he said it, maybe to Denton.

John Wall is a punk. He's good. Not gonna deny his talent, but his personality doesn't seem like something that would mesh with what Hennigan is doing. He doesn't exude "high character" in my book. It's just my opinion, no need to really argue about it if you disagree, we'll just keep our separate opinions.

But the bigger fact of the matter is that John Wall leaving Washington has about a 0.01% chance of happening. Feel free to cling to that all you want, but the new CBA is making it easier for teams to keep their young stars. Being able to offer a lot more money than anyone else keeps teams in the driver's seat. Yeah, Dwight did it, but as we all know Dwight is a rare case. Players getting out of their rookie contracts are 99.9% likely to be chasing that cash and geting their first true Max Deal.

I've seen you talking about Wall to Orlando before and quite frankly I think it's an exercise in unlikely fate. I would suggest forgetting about him. Start looking at PGs in the draft. That's the direction this team is going. I do think we'll do some spending in FA, but more likely on a player who would command less than an 8 digit annual salary. Maybe Eric Bledsoe. Or perhaps on a post player who could provide added post defense. Larry Sanders could be an idea... but his value might be inflated.
