I like how we are positioned this year. We sink or swim with Fultz development, no more Dj to the rescue. Trading Fournier and Vucevic would be setting him up for failure. Show us Markelle are we playoff bound or lottery ? I am cool with both having two young playmakers ( is it possible we went from 0,5 to two ?), young shooting forward and monster defender coming back next year.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

i saw waaay too much international head to heads to know that on good team Bogdan >>Evan and it's not even funny how much more talented Bogdan is. He just spent NBA career on trash Kings.
Galo is streach PF at this stage. But elite shooter non less. Also elite scorer if you see how little shots he takes to get to his 17-19 ppg.
I think international hoops is cool, and I want it to continue to grow, but it is quite simply not a very good indicator for NBA performance. It's not entirely useless, but it's dramatically less useful for measuring NBA performance than actual NBA performance is. When we compare NBA performance, the evidence shows that Fournier is a slightly better player (I won't bore you with the stats, but they are pretty clear). The Hawks have to pay Bogdan $18m/year ($1m than Fournier is making this year) for four years. Bogdan and Fournier are the same age.
Gallo is Ryan Anderson (also loved by advanced stats) with less rebounding. The Hawks are paying him $20m/year for three years. That's $2m more than AG is making this year, and $3.5 more than he will make next year. In the last year of Gallinari's contract, he will make $550k less than Vooch and be two years older. I can't overstate how pleased I am that we do not have to pay that money to Gallinari.
Are there really Magic fans on this board who wish we had made these moves? When people imagine the Magic as being free of the AG and Vooch contracts, are these the kinds of signings they want to spend that money on? If the answer is a clear no (as I think it is), then why on earth should we be praising Atlanta for those moves?
No ofc we wouldn’t want any shooters on this team as we love the brick fest we are being served on for a decade.

We took a guy with a wrecked knee and a one and done that couldn't handle the ACC because they could help us immediately? That's a tough sell.

As in... we have a decent idea of what skills they have and are translatable at this point without going to "Arnold Bootcamp". lol Whether or not they will truly make a difference is yet to see. And come on... you know both of those statements are pushing the envelope a little. lol

Fultz really is the swing player for the organization.
If he makes a big leap in development, if the player he was at Washington still exists in there somewhere and he can tap into part of it, then a lot of things change in terms of the future of the organization.
If he plays the same as he did last year, the Magic are probably maxing out at like 30-32 wins in this 72 game season and there are major doubts if the Magic can even move forward with him on a 15M+ salary.

The Athletic has learned that Bamba has made progress in recent weeks and continues to work out. Team officials could be approaching his situation with extra caution, as team officials typically do when one of their young players is recovering from an injury or an ailment.

After Isaac went down, I have a feeling that overly cautious will be the theme this season. Cliff said Aminu still has a ways to go until he's ready to be cleared for contact... kind of strange.

Well, especially with a situation like this. A young man who's had complications from a disease that we still don't know enough about regarding its long-term effects. There's no need to rush him along for basketball. I'm hopeful for Mo, and also glad to see the Magic's training staff remaining patient.

Also... HUGE props to Cliff for going out of his way to mention OCity and the work the guys on the roster did with the community figures in regards to voting. I love that Cliff is involved in this community and actually cares about it. He reminds me a lot of Stan in that regard.

I don't see him being nearly as good as Isaac, but he should be able to provide a lot of the same impact that let Isaac get on the floor early for Clifford as well.
I foresee Anthony struggling with turnovers, efficiency, and shot selection early on. That's not a good recipe to get minutes from Cliff.
i would accept this "earn minutes" dialogue if we we're a good team or even a playoff team maybe....damn near every team in our division got better while we focus on continuity....Anthony should be getting minutes by default since there isn't anyone in front of him in the depth chart behind fultz....this year is shot from the start, we got too many key players injured
Too many key players injured? Isaac and Aminu only.
Earn minutes dialogue will be played even more. Clifford is an advocate of playing rookies meaningful minutes and not just for the sake of playing them. I do think Cole will play, but to get more minutes, I think Cole will have to earn it.
I do believe this is a make or break season for us, I dont think they did it this yr though with the offseason being so compact.

JI/Aminu/Bamba.....those guys are key players that we need that we won't have for a while if not the whole season.....which to me says the season is shot before it even begins...so in that scenario why not give the new kids every opportunity to see what they got in a year where we as an organization is in flux? How much longer are we doing the whole coddling thing? sink or swim, time to take the training wheels off....give them the keys at least for this season and lets see what they got

We don’t know the whole story in regards to Mo, but After that TRoss podcast with Cole it’s easy to imagine Bamba doing nothing to improve in the offseason. WTF are neither ready for training camp? Was someone there to rub Mo's back so he'd get out of bed in the morning? These are the questions.

Makes you wonder with all these injuries heading into the season, was that a reason for the Team to stay pat? I really hope the deal is to let the young guys play and see what you have with the bridging the gap talent we have at the moment. Hopefully a deal is swung for Evan at the trade deadline for some type of picks or young player.

I'm looking at this COVID positive- athletes in soccer ( since most of them got it ) and you have situation where 36 years old Ronaldo returned after like 2 weeks of being in isolation.
Marcelo Brozovic went from 2 weeks out to playing 90 min of champions league.
My national team youth team had 7 positive players 3 weeks ago,all of them are back in action already. They are all about same age as Bamba.
Bamba simply had to have some condition BEFORE covid. Guy was cleared to practice very early in september by doctors.
His situation is so confusing to me.
He is either worst conditioned athlete in history ( being out of breath after 5 min, suffering of stress fracture after barely playing) or has some medical condition like anaemia, sleep apnoea or something else.
I just can't find any objective reason why 22 years old athlete is in such an atrocious shape since a first day he entered nba. Maybe he just eats like crap and stuffs himself with suger? Who knows, Dwight had body ( read :" steroid cycles" ) that made that sustainable
One thing is for sure, Mo Bamba stock is sinking ship. And in retrospective Vuc re-sign looks good. Magic would be starting khem Birch now and some G league guy for 2 years straight, if they trusted Mo.

i was typing something for OPP and it striked me.
Why Orlando Magic medical stuff avoids surgeries of players?
Aminu had MCL tear 366 days ago. But surgery on his knee wasn't done up until 35 days after injury because they were evaluating situation. Year later, surgery later, Aminu can't play yet. Talking about very minor very common- meniscus tear. Nothing major.
Bamba. Stress fracture. No surgery.
Isaac- hyperexstended knee injury. No surgery. Guy returns, tears ACL and MCL in first ugly contact in same knee.
SImilar situation was with foot, he did surgery later as far as i remember.
More shady things.
Mo Bamba cleared to workout by doctors at september first 2020. Mo Bamba incapable of play basketball 3 months later.
Mo Bamba gaining 30 pounds of water, fat and muscles during sit at home- quarantine period. Who's bright idea was that ? Stuffing body with food during times nobody even had access to gym despite already having history of poor conditioning....
Markelle Fultz is doing full recovery-- Markelle Fultz still throws hot potatos every time he needs to lunch long shot.
