Make them take Hedo and have them throw in Kevin Martin. Kevin Martin + our three would be first round picks this season would be a pretty good start to the rebulidng process. Much better than Andruw Bynum or Brook Lopez imho.

Take this FWIW because it's Ping...
http://www.clickorlando.com/sports/Magi ... index.html
Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith will meet with team ownership Wednesday, NBA sources tell WKMG Sports Director David Pingalore.

Smith's meeting is all part of the evaluation process the DeVos family does after each season.
Some are speculating that Smith could be on the way out the door after two disappointing seasons in the playoffs. Last year the Magic were knocked out of the first round by the Atlanta Hawks and this year by the Indiana Pacers. Of course, this post-season the Magic were without Dwight Howard.

As for Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy's meeting with ownership, according to Pingalore's sources, that meeting has not been set yet.

Smith said on record last week that if he does return next season with the organization that he would keep Van Gundy as the head coach.

Smith, who is under contract with the Magic through the 2012-2013 season, has been criticized for some of the roster moves that he made during his tenure.

Orlando Magic Daily ‏ @OMagicDaily
Adding on to the @Pinglocal6 report, I can confirm that #Magic ownership was expected to meet this week. Was told it would likely be Wed.

Orlando Magic Daily ‏ @OMagicDaily
Another source told me that decision may be coming this week, esp. concerning Otis' future. Would not surprise me if tomorrow is the day.

Orlando Magic Daily ‏ @OMagicDaily
If my source is right, it may not be that much longer. Stay tuned tomorrow... RT @gatorbait1689: why is otis still employed?

It appears they are waiting for Dwight for now. RT @gatorbait1689: ok...next question.....why is stan still employed?

Again, I think this approach is incredibly stupid. Dwight wants changes. The easiest one to make to prove you're committed to him is the head coach. Tough to ask Dwight for an extension with out changes.

Nothing is officially open yet. But I don't believe so. Foyle is lurking RT @denytuesday: do they have anyone lined up for the open role?

Change for change's sake won't make this team better. maybe Stan has used up his amount of good will, but we want to make sure we have the coach that can get the most out of our team. Let's ask if Howard still has it out for Stan before making our decision.
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

BY asking this question is the point I was trying to make. I think it is worth the risk to let stan go. Dwight has not made this easy for us but he is signing away his prime to the next team he signs with. He wants us to prove we are his. Fire stan ( i like stan). Firing stan allows you to show dwight the direction of this franchise and allows him to have his say. If he then is not happy after firing stan we then get a young coach to coach our young guys and trade dwight.

I don't think SVG would want to be apart o a rebuilding process. If he did he would be a lame duck coach after a few bad seasons anyways.

Lets get the ball rolling .....fire otis. Tell SVG thank you but we have to go in this direction and relieve him of his duties.

Those would be my options, in order of preference, with an undecided Dwight.

The Nets already said last summer they would take Hedo and Duhon so maybe you could get Top Pick (Anthony Davis), Marshon Brooks, Gerald Wallace, Brook Lopez

However, I think Charlotte winds up with the top pick in this years draft

That would def be a better haul than what Denver got for Melo, but would it even be possible? Seems like a TON for the Nets to give up, but I guess Dwight>Melo.

Well Gerald Wallace is on a PO (player option) in his contract so if he was included in that trade it would be an expiring contract. Brooks has a longer contract than Duhon which is a toss up. The whole thing comes down to if we wanna go with Dwight or Lopez and Davis assuming we were to get first pick and get Davis of course

Hi! Alex Kennedy wrote that the Magic don´t put much effort in the draft, not interviewing players nor seeing them play, thus resulting in poor choices. Why this lack of professionalism, what do you think?

Bill Ingram
He’s absolutely right. We’ve talked about it many times. That’s just laziness to me. How can you consistently fail to even interview your draft picks??
---------------------------------

Will
Where do you think Dwight ends up next year?

Bill Ingram
Orlando . . .after they fire Stan and Otis in an effort to keep him happy, then have him talk Josh Smith and Monta Ellis into taking less money to join him in Orlando next summer.
--------------------------------------------------

Lateak
Do u think dwill is goin to dallas…. I do…. I still think d12 best fit is the lakers r the magic… Idk y he wants to go to the nets…. They have a horrible team n billy king is a bad gm… Look at philly… Since he left.. Hes terrible

Bill Ingram
D12 doesn’t want to go to Brooklyn . . .his “people” do. They think they can make huge commissions pimping him out to marketing people in NY. D12 wants to win a championship.
--------------------------------------------------------

Trevor
In your opinion should Orl just trade Dwight/Hedo for Marshon Brooks/top 3 NJN pick and Filler and Keep Stan? Somehow move JRich for an expiring and go into 2013 with cash two good young players and a top 5 coach? ADavis in Orl would be nice! Also is Duhon the worst pg in the league getting minutes?

Bill Ingram
I don’t think that offer is remotely on the table any more . . .otherwise, yes. And yes, it’s painful to watch Duhon.

Who Will be orlando next gm & coach
Who would u pick

Bill Ingram
Alright – gotta hit the road for San Antonio, so last question. My head coach would be Nate McMillan and my GM would be Kevin Pritchard. They did a good job rebuilding the Blazers together, and that’s the kind of help the Magic need.

So he can not play any of our youth during our rebuild?

+1 if the Magic really want to show that they're committed to making necessary changes to be at a championship level, they'll give Otis AND Stan the axe right away. Stan is a great coach, but I won't lose sleep if we lost him. It's not like he would overcome his weaknesses and stop playing Duhon.

The hesitation to fire Stan is a reflection of the incompetence that lies at the top of the front office. Dwight doesn't want to be the guy who calls for Stan to be fired so that it comes back to him in the media. He wants a front office to take those bullets, as they should. To have Stan's decision predicated on Dwight would be asking Dwight for another media firestorm on his head. He doesn't want that. The FO have done absolutely nothing in the past year, NOTHING, to improve this team or roster and prove to Dwight that we'll make changes. They owe Dwight some things here, and taking responsibility for firing the coach is one.

Just the mere notion that the Magic would bring back SVG under any circumstances is one that Dwight would scoff at and reply "is this franchise really that dumb?"

Exactly.

If Stan played anywhere else, he would've been fired for his little outburst before now. What else is there to decide? I think Stan is an excellent coach, but if it's between he and Dwight, that's a no-brainer. And I honestly believe things between him and D have been fractured beyond repair. Stan (and everyone else) knows how important D12's image is to him, and he took the biggest blow at him that he possibly could. Same goes for Otis (who did it repeatedly).

I like Stan, but I think I finally lost patience with him this season, after defending him for years. He is way too rigid and stubborn with his rotations, and his offense is downright unimaginative.......although that probably has more to do with the roster.

SVG will head over to become the HC of some team and make them great. I just think it's over, here.
