:nonono:

Edit: Actually, I don't think all is lost in a potential deal with the Rockets. Had some friends tell me that the terms of a deal can still be agreed upon prior to Aug. 26. Apparently it has been done in the past.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Nice to know that it may have been done in the past.

But the kind of contract they signed... Would it have been different if they had signed it with the Magic.

http://sacramento.about.com/od/procolle ... artest.htm
The Sacramento Kings have entered into an agreement with the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, July 29, to trade Ron Artest for former Kings point guard Bobby Jackson, rookie Donte Greene and a No. 1 draft pick, according to news reports.

Due to the nature of Greene’s contract, the deal would not be finalized until Aug. 14. There’s still a window of opportunity that the deal could fall through. But as Sacramento Bee Kings beat writer Melody Gutierrez posted on her blog, Greene’s agency, Blue Entertainment Sports Television (BEST), has updated his team affiliation to the Kings.

So it's very possible to get a deal done, but not be official until Aug. 26.

Excellent.

I don't need closure. Let's see how it all plays out near mid season deadline, Hennigan did his "exploration" with the summer talks, now he knows all the angles so far and he'll regain leverage over the season with NJ/LAL/DAL making their offers again.

I'm also really pumped to see likely Vaughn and some new assistants coaching AND no discernible stretch 4 out there unless Nicholson/Harper really, really, really take to the 3 point line and team plays/defense like Ryan was. Count me a little too optimistic maybe, but I eventually see Nicholson playing really well with Dwight as both an inside post up threat and an outside shooter. BBD, Ayon, O'Quinn are three bigs who will legitimately protect Dwight with BBD getting the most minutes. Backcourt-wise, I think Vaughn is going to get Liggins some regular minutes as a "SF" at around 18MPG and we're going to sign Ish or Wayns to backup PG to push Duhon's +/- out to 3rd PG. None of this will convince Dwight to stay in Orlando I bet, but it's going to make a more unpredictable team to defend and should be very dangerous, even if it takes some early losses to get more athletic rotation guys used to learning NBA ball and being net positives by playoffs; Liggins, Nicholson, Ish/Wayns, Harper/Clark, O'Quinn/Ayon.

Hennigan said he wanted a player developing coach, Vaughn must be open to that, and we're going to get much more youth, athleticism into the rotation. BBD/Nicholson will bring new versatility to the PF, Ish or Wayns going to make backup PG a positive spot finally, and Liggins/JJ/Q Rich are going to inject defense into the perimeter. J Rich and Turk particularly, will have fewer minutes but I think they're both veteran enough to produce with what floor time they'll have and if they play truly good that game, they'll be closing the game out. I'm not going to bother predicting how Turk will do this season as he's always up or down, but J Rich was always a clutch shooter and team first vet last season when his minutes got reduced to JJ. Jameer too, should statistically be regressing back to a more average shooting percentages for his career than his poor percentages from last year. Not saying I think he'll go all CP3-lite like in '08 with the 50/45 percentages or just in certain games/stretches every season but with a new secure contract and a normal season (no lockout, no injuries coming in) I think he's going to be 2nd leading scorer at 16 ppg, 6 apg, 3 rbg, 1 spg player on 46/40/85 percentages for either another team wide offensive scoring machine or Vaughn trying out a seriously Dwight-led offense and seeing how it plays out over a long stretch of games for reliability of it's efficiency.

I really would love to see Orlando sign T-Will because I'm really sick of Hedo starting and just his non-care attitude. T-Will brings everything Hedo does outside the three point shot, plus things like speed and great athleticism. I think T-Will really started to become a solid player once he was traded to Sac-Town and you can see how solid he really became for them. I really would like to see us either sign him or Martell Webster.

I hope that is the case. I asked the question earlier if the NBA had the "player to be named later" deal that MLB has. I am sure they don't be this would be similar. A "deal to be named later." I just wonder if the Rockets have a desire anymore to have Howard and put up with the same antics our F/O is having to deal with? But they could trade him at the deadline. But they may figure that they would have to give up more to get him then they could get in return. Howard and his cam p has done all they can to poison the Rockets well. And that is one of the reasons I have been saying this "patience" tact is NOT working. Now for some reason some people on here like to verbally assault you if you hold that opinion. I am not sure why. Unless they want that malcontent to stay here, perhaps. I just do not see how this dragging on helps ANYONE.

But as you said, VGOS, if we are going to have a deal with the Rockets, it will have to drag on at least another month. I wonder if the Howard camp has so poisoned the well that Houston has said the hell with it. Time IS NOT on our side. It gives Howard's camp and their minions in the media an opportunity to denigrate our F/O and any possible trade to Houston. DeVos can not be happy about the negative publicity the magic are getting over this. It is undeserved in my opinion but it not good none the less. However I do think this last meeting with Howard and Fegan was really dumb. They had gotten Howards answer several times before this and I think Howard and his minions used this meeting and the resulting publicity to scare off Houston. Don't know if it worked or not. We will see. We do know one thing. It did NOTHING to help the Magic cause.
THAT'LL BE THE DAY!
