ESPN reporting Josh Smith now enamored with the Hawks change of direction and no longer wants to leave and also that they're now a destination for Dwight.

I don't think Dwight wants to play there but whatever.

I'd trade Dwight for Horford and Teague.

all I have to say is
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"Dwight screwed Dwight"

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

DeVos put Otis in charge on his basketball team, and Otis was the one who traded for Arenas. besides the fact that Arenas' contract is probably just a massive tax write off, the DeVos' have nobody to blame but themselves on that front.

Danny Ferry has the early leg up on EOY. He's maintained a playoff team while orchestrating a complete salary dump. (Note to Otis: If you ever have a job again, which you probably won't, this is how you trade and undesirable contract. Better yet, don't offer the **** contract in the first place.)

Next year the Hawks will have Horford at 12M, Stevenson at around 3M, 2 Mid first rounders totaling 3M, Teague's QO cap hold at around 5M and roster slot cap hold of around 4M. Thats what 27M?

I bet you they can get Dwight and Smoove to agree to 16M apiece. That brings them up to 58M.

PG Teague
SG Stevenson
SF Smith
PF Horford
C Dwight

With 2 mid-firsts and some MLE vets to boot. There's your 2014 Eastern Conference Champions.

I know Hennigan is being patient and observing the landscape and I'm cool with that and all but he needs to pull the trigger on a deal soon because a lot of GM's are making moves and it feels like the Magic are being outmaneuvered.

I think Hennigan is just focusing on getting a Coach in here first......

Nope, he won't rush this and make a move to make a move. Otis did that constantly and it screwed us. He will lets things fall out and see where we stand. People holler to make a trade, but you have to have someone wanting to trade with you and it not be lopsided in their favor.

yeah..he should be getting marvin williams and joe johnson....there's a reason why OKC/SA are always patient....and why their always good.

I agree certainly agree that patience is key here.

Having said that; free agents are signed, trades are made, minds change. If he waits too long it may be too late to get the best possible deal from Dwight.

You see other GM's (Ferry, for one, who's been on the job shorter than Hennigan) already positioning their teams for 2013.

The Magic cannot go into next season with the same starting 1-4. Regardless of what happens with the 5 spot.

how can we make a trade when we don't even know what direction we're going in? If we keep Dwight (with extension) we contend. If we trade him, most likely, we rebuild.

Can teams use the Stretch Provision every year or is it a one time deal?

Or they could be like the Hawks dumping salary....

And the Magic aren't OKC/SA. They're a capped out 6th seeded team with their best player demanding a trade. It's easy to be patient when you don't have these problems.
