I like where this is going .. If those are really the last 3 candidates, for once this organisation is gonna make a good decision :D

After that, we gotta hurry to hire Brian Shaw, cause Miami will want him too ..

I hope Dennis Lindsey is the guy who takes over, Troy Weaver would be nice too.

When did he say this??

He said this when the proposed rumor leaked; thinking back in January.

If Penn really did say 'Dwight for Lopez/Wallace is a good trade'... then screw that guy... KEEP HIM AWAY!

We'll even email Alex and let him know about it lol
AMartins@OrlandoMagic.com

Anyway I like Troy Weaver (former Spurs, and current Thunder guy) or Dennis Lindsey (Spurs guy)... I also like Kevin Pritchard (Blazers guy)

Any of those 3 would make me happy... I don't want Pippen, Vincent, Bowers, or Penn

Fair enough...

But saying you would trade Dwight for Lopez/Wallace is a PRETTY BAD thing to say... even if it was a few months ago.

Regardless, I still prefer Weaver, Lindsey, and Pritchard over him... those were my original top 3 for the GM spot personally.

If Penn said this, I'm not sure I can trust this guy! It is kind of scary, a new GM, if they don't realize the impact Dwight has on a team (our team) and thinks a trade like Lopez/Wallace is equal value for someone like Dwight. I just hope Martins and Devos family would keep any GM from trading Dwight for trash like that, or trading him at all...unless he truly want out, and I'm not sold on that at all.

Yeah I know what your saying, don't get me wrong :)

I just think that being an analyst for ESPN is a lot different than actually being the GM of that team you're talking about ..

If he'd be working with this team & know how much Dwight means to this franchise, I'm sure he wouldn't even think about giving away Dwight for that garbage

Besides, every GM will probably say something "stupid" at some point. The difference with Otis is that he barely ever says anything that's NOT stupid :P

Penn/Weaver/Lindsey/Pritchard are all OK for me .. Bower on the other hand :-?

Just cause he said it on TV as a talking head doesn't mean he actually either a) believes it or b) would actually make the deal if he was in that position as GM.

A lot of time's these guys are just regurgitating what producers tell them.

Yeah possibly...

For our sake, let's hope that's the case.

I'm still leery about hiring a guy that said he'd trade Dwight for Lopez/Wallace (it still came out of his mouth, regardless if he's trying to be a "talking head", it's still a stupid trade to say)... that's basically the same trade Otis tried to do before the season until Martins put the brakes on it thankfully.

But I understand certain folks giving Penn the "benefit of the doubt" for being an "analyst" (analyst... pfft yeah right)

I guess if it came down to Penn or Bowers... I would choose Penn... I don't trust Bowers AT ALL.

My preference for GM:

1. Weaver
2. Lindsey
3. Pritchard
...
4. Penn
...
...
..
Never: Bowers, Vincent, Pippen, etc...

Zmill wrote:Why is "taking on" Jarrett Jack a bad thing? Dudes one of the most underrated PGs in the league...dropped 15/6 last year and I bet you never heard a thing about him. Is a solid defender at the 1 and 2.

He would be a solid starter or great backup, as would ariza

I worded that pretty badly. I am not discouraged by Jarret Jack and I think he would make a good back court combo if we could bring in Stephen Jackson. Would bring the toughness we as a team have been lacking. The thing about Jarrett Jack I did not like was his contract. I heard he had a player option and I did not want that to effect any moves for the 2013 free agency pool. If his contract does not effect the 2013 for the free agents then I am all for bringing him in and letting Jameer go

btw, I should probably admit this... I know Weaver, I know Pritchard, I know Lindsey... I don't know very much about Penn... so I'll own up to that. I know a lot of folks here like Penn. I hope they are right about that.

really like that final 3 if true

...to be fair, Penn said that he would take that trade when it was being "reported" that it was wallace/lopez and like 4 1st rd picks...and also at the time "sources" were giving the magic 0% chance of keeping dwight & no one was talking about waiving opt out clauses...not saying thats a good trade but just saying

Putting things into perspective though... any of those 3 or 4 guys is better than Bower... so maybe I shouldn't complain too much about the quote... I just want a GM sometime next week, so he can get ready for the draft... draft night is going to be a very important night for this organization imo.

@_DudeItsMagic_ I like your sig  ... classy

Watching the pre-game show on ESPN, this is really the All-Anti-Magic group :D Broussard/Wilbon/J.Barry ..

They're not easy on LeBron .. Maybe they don't like Florida? :D
