Yes, I am curious where you read that as well

Was just about to come in and post about this when I read it

If that's the case, this guy is ridiculous. I am going out on a limb here, but I imagine this is what happened. Fegan has told the Lakers that Dwight will resign there if they do not trade Gasol to the Magic, but if they gut the Lakers, he will leave in the summer. That theory ties the two separate rumors together about Dwight not wanting the Lakers to trade Pau and him possibly not wanting to resign in the summer.

The one issue I have with the NJ trade is that...isn't this basically getting a couple of pieces (Lopez + Brooks) from a team that WITH Deron (who is 10x better, at least in the short term than any PG we would get in the draft) AND Humphries (who is a rebounding machine) still couldn't do anything at all?? Are those draft picks really going to somehow be better than Deron and Humphries, enough to make us contenders??

No, we will not be contenders instantly. When we rebuild this team this time, it's needs to be rebuilt the right way. Draft well and develop that talent. Let the bad contracts run themselves out and trade the tradeable contracts you have when the time comes. When JRich and Big Baby and eligible to be traded, we look to move them for unproven youth, a draft pick or trade exceptions. No more aging veterans. I personally like the Nets package the best. Lopez is a good young center. Not a defensive presence or a good rebounder, but he can put the ball in the hole. Most likely, we get Marshon Brooks who is a good asset. We get the Nets pick this year and we also get the Rockets pick if it falls outside the lottery. I think they are currently 14 or somewhere around there. We send out Dwight and Hedo or Duhon. I'm sure we take back another player or two, but those will be expirings.

If we continue this trend of mediocrity and the Nets continue their ways, trade Dwight to them at the deadline. This will almost assure the Magic of 2 lottery picks in next years draft and possibly a 15-18 pick if the Rockets can continue to play well.

If the Magic get lucky and get one of the Top 4 picks, great, we are in good shape. If the 2 lottery picks fall in the second half of the lottery and we get a combination of a Kidd-Gilchrist, Perry Jones, Austin Rivers or Arnett Moultrie, we are moving in the right direction. Sure, those guys plus Lopez and Brooks don't equal the playoffs, so we enter the lottery next year and maybe take our PG of the future in Ian Miller and have cap space. Bottom line, we need to build assets so that when the next superstar wants out, we are attractive to him and we have the pieces to land him. I'm actually excited for the future.

this was my thinking too!
Trade Lopez, Brooks and Okur and NJ 12, and the Houston 12 pick for Howard, Turk and Duhon. That would give the Magic 3 top 20 draft picks. to go PF Jones, SF Kid-Gilcrest, and PG Lillard.
Plus get out of Turks contract!
C Lopez/BBD
PF Anderson/Jones
SF MKG/J-Rich
SG Brooks/JJ
PG Nelson/Lillard
I'd watch that over what is there now!

Kind of what Denver did to a degree.

Perry jones and kidd gilchrist is a solid pair to build around. while drummond seems to be the top pick he might stay another year. anthony davis is just too skinny and im not sure if he can bulk up like dwight or be another t. prince.

I like Lopez...He isn't a franchise but he is a piece you would want especially since the Center position is weak in this era....Wouldn't be too bad next to Ryan but i would rather a Defensive PF since Lopez probably wouldn't command double teams....A defensive Wing wouldn't be bad either....Lopez had a legit post game with a nice little jumper...his 20 PPG is not a fluke on the other hand maybe his rebounding isn't either but with a change of system maybe he can get that up....In my head i see....

Fast Point Guard
Marshon Brooks
Defensive SF
Ryan Anderson
Brook Lopez

SG/PF/C positions all have guys that are already pretty good with room to get better....We have to get a solid young PG and SF and i'll be content

Are you serious ? How many games did Deron play with Brook Lopez this season.
Kris Humphries was signed pretty much last minute and Brooks has been one of the best rookies so far this season.

Brooks
Lopez
1 1st
taking on Hedoo doo
Humphries.

Man i hope it's not the case but man it might be Nets or bust at this point if Dwight is really going through back channels to tell teams not to gut their roster to trade with us....If that is the case then Dwight is not the guy i thought he was.....but i'll give him the benefit for now because there is so much contradiction in the media these days....Me personally as a fan i just want this to be over...I'm not a Dwight hater i just acknowledge that he wants out so give the man what he wants and let's move forward.....Trade him to the Nets and Get Lopez and Marshon Brooks has to be a part of the deal.....Get picks and cap relief then go from there...draft the right guys and commit to playing team basketball...

Fans appreciate when a team that can put that hard hat on and play together....Hopefully we can be like a Denver or a Utah...Their Stars left but their house is still rocking...the fans are still there....i believe our fans will still be here as well...As long as we put a product on the court that is all about the team and will play hard...If Otis is still here and we trade Dwight then this will be his last chance not to screw up...he has to get it right this time...

Dwight really hasn't screwed us... yet. He could easily say that he will only play for NJ and that he doesn't want to be traded for any of their players (and that he decided he will, for sure, sign with NJ this summer).

^That would suck.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but Gottlieb going to do a short segment on Dwight at 5pm I think. Might only be a minute, not sure, he just teased it.

I Don't see how it serves any good to wait til after the ASG, if that's what they are doing. At the current rate we will waste this entire season. I am ready to be done with it. This is boring. I miss Darrel.

Would be pretty embarrassing if Howard was representing another team at the All Star game in Orlando. I understand that clearly, don't know why you don't.

Not if you have another All-star starting for that game  But it looks like you won't since Howard seems to only want to play for NJ
