Because we get decent picks, including one good lottery pick, and more cap space. It's the type of deal we should be chasing.

While I am more okay with giving Bynum a long term deal than Lopez, I'm not crazy about it. Just because Bynum is the league's number 2 center doesn't mean he's awesome. It means that the center position in the league right now is terrible.

Roy Hibbert is getting a max deal. If this were the 90s, he'd be getting 50 percent of the max.

Even though I'll be glad when all of this is over, we shouldn't have to rush to trade. I really hope the Rockets swoop in and take Dwight. Obviously we want no part of Brooklyn. But I don't want Bynum either,He's obviously way better than Lopez but I want to rebuild and Bynum will get a max contract, he's fragile and if he gets hurt, it's Grant Hill situation all over again.

Again only Laker trade I"ll do is Bynum/Gasol for Dwight and one of Hedo or J-Rich.

Apparently you guys aren't too high on either Bynum or Lopez, that's why LA now has to seek Houston's help. And it makes sense from the Rockets standpoint to trade for a center that actually has your team on his supposed list that he'd extend with rather than trading for one who craves a big market and will more than likely leave the first chance he gets.

Hope this helps.

I would go with picks and expirings instead of bynum, if it meant jrich turk and duhon are off the team.

Because honestly, Bynum is overrated and has bad knees.

I wouldn't mind if this for Cap relief and draft picks, and Dwight is going to the West as well.

Bynum is a 20/10 Center. That's pretty good in any era. I'd definitely be ok with rebuilding around him.

I just get the feeling that we'll just end up with a few meaningless draft picks at the end of this. I just have bad feeling that Rob wants to tank HARD. Like Bobcats level of tankage.

Maybe Houston is setting their sights on Bynum now... I would like to get Bynum, but the Houston package is definitely superior to BK's.

So we don't want Bynum?
Why do we need LA to trade with Houston?

Because Houston has a better shot at keeping Bynum than they do with Howard, and Hennigan may prefer Houston's package than risk Bynum. I'd prefer Bynum though.

I wouldn't hate it, but I wouldn't be crazy about it. Mainly, I'd just be thrilled that we didn't take the Nets pu-pu platter.

But Bynum has serious mental/character issues. He's a head case to me, who has spent a lot of time on the shelf...and needs to take a shot in his knees every 6 months to keep playing.

A complete overhaul and rebuild that includes a lot of money coming off of the books is in our best interest, and I think Hennigan might agree.

+1
Given a team centered around him, his averages would improve even more. He was a beast last season, held back by Kobe. He's offensively dominant on the block and a much improved help side defender.

Give him 1 or 2 years on his own team and there will be a real debate about who the best center in the league is.

Plus, Bynum is a real piece to build around. He can be a cornerstone of a championship team. Add some wing guys in free agency or via trade (Monta, Iggy, Gay) in 2013 and suck next year for a high lottery pick and we'll be right there again.

Of course, there's a risk of Bynum walking. But, if he does, we still have cap space and are in the same place we are now, rebuilding. And if Rob wants to, he can deal Bynum at the deadline for a much better return than D12 will deliver.

at least getting Houston's assets would allow the magic to immediately rebuild with that Houston's top 4 protected pick and their own pick for next year. Not to mention you'd probably get a few of Houston's young players.
