Penn and bower are leading candidates for the sixers GM job. I'm heading over to their forum to see which way posters are leaning.

Also, doesn't it feel like ages since our GM search?

Well, it depends on what you want, doesn't it. Personally I'd take Motiejunas, Lamb, TOR 1st, one other 1st, and Martin to make the salaries work in return for Dwight and J-Rich. Which really isn't that much. If they won't offer us that, then why would a deal get done in the first place?

Motiejunas can't be traded till January at the earliest. Did you know that?

There are different rules for rookie deals, you only have to wait thirty days after signing them to a rookie deal before trading them.

August 3rd or 4th I believe. Somewhere close to those dates, not sure when he signed exactly in July.

OK, so we're looking at August 5th? Is that why the Magic announced that they were taking a break on vacation? lol.

I'm hoping. It'll just be nice to have all of this over and done with.

I saw it was on Jul 6.

If this is what we are waiting for, Hennigan deserves some high praise.

No offense but where is HOU getting all that cap space from???? You might want to check your numbers there...

It is hard to know what to believe right now with Hennigan not saying anything and so many rumors coming and going. But one rumor I believe to be true is that Henny wants rookie contract players, expiring contracts and draft picks in exchange for Howard and our own bad contracts.

If that is the case then we really have no choice but to wait. First off, we had to wait for the Asik decision from Chicago to be made and I believe this to be the real hold on any and all Dwight talks. Even if the deal for these rookies can't be signed for another week or two, an agreement can still be made. But it would be foolish of Hennigan to show his hand before knowing just how much room Houston had to work with.

D-Mo signed his deal on July 6. Teams have to wait 1 month before being able to trade a signed rookie. So August 6 is the date.

Note quite...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_salary_cap#Rookie_scale_salary

No free agent signed in the offseason can be traded until December 15 of that year or until three months have passed (whichever comes later), a rule that prevents teams from signing free agents with the intent of using them strictly as trade fodder. For draft picks this moratorium lasts 30 days.

The rule doe not say that teams must wait a month, it says that teams must wait 30 days. Since there are 31 days this July, the actual date for which D-Mo could be traded would be August 5th.

LoL I gotcha. We need that kind of cap space! You know, like the Lakers seem to have.

Strange that twitter has been pretty silent after Ping reported the Magic going on 10 day vacation. Other than Rockets beat writers, nothing much happening.
