AB's upside. I'll start. SGA

This smells of the "Aaron Gordon has a Paul George trajectory" talk from a few years ago. AB needs to show a visual leap in skillset to make this assertion. And I mean actually be able to show that he actually can take his man off the dribble.

His defense is actually solid. His offense is just not there. There’s no way he should have been drafted but he’ll get every opportunity to improve his offense. He may become an NBA level player eventually but so would many g-leaguers/athletic college players if given the same level of opportunity/coaching.

I mean, it probably won't happen. Their college production was very similar though.

This was expected. Just ridiculous nepotism and proves Lebron has been running the league for the last decade plus. The NBA is panicking to find the next cash cow “goat” from America.

Interesting shot by TDS on 2nd three and 3rd of 2nd series. No dip.

Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of players actually practice that since it's pretty much guaranteed if you're going to be a corner shooter in the NBA, to even get some shots off, you'll have to do some no dip shooting.

Hurricane Milton is currently forecast to go straight through Orlando on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. I'm not sure how that's going to affect the schedule.

It'll be nice if Da Silva is a homerun pick. I'm still a little bummed over the Jett pick last season.

Yeah... this guy , if no outside factors disrupts, screams next face of the league in terms of home-grown American talent. As someone who keeps track of college recruits, Flagg ( and Boozers ) , like Zion , Paolo and the rest, have been "groomed" to be the product for what the NBA needs/wants at an early age.

Also, based on that preseason game DEN vs BOS, a lot of DEN fans and some casuals are already saying, Braun is better than what KCP gave them. Anyone who watched confirmed?

Flagg looked great in the team USA scrimmage. Might be the real deal compared to Bronny. I still think the media isn’t done pushing Ant as “the next MJ”

Cmon.. no on is really serious about Bronny. He is the nepo hire in a company compared to Flagg that's like 2 PHDs and 10yr work experience in the field

I don’t care either way. I’m happy we got Kenny. Denver needed to get a little younger.

Here's what chatgpt4o thinks about the season's record potential.

-start-
Given that the Orlando Magic won 47 games in the 2023-24 season, we can adjust the probabilities to reflect this stronger baseline performance.
1. Probability of winning 40 games:
Since the Magic already surpassed 40 wins last season, their probability of winning at least 40 games in the upcoming season is very high. Teams that win 47 games are generally consistent enough to win 40+ games in the following season. The probability is close to 95-98%.

2. Probability of winning 50 games:
Winning 50 games is now a more reasonable goal given their 47-win season. Teams that make a slight improvement or maintain a strong roster can hit the 50-win mark. The probability of reaching 50 wins could now be estimated at 55-65%.

3. Probability of winning 60 games:
A 60-win season would still require a significant leap, but coming off a 47-win season, it's more plausible than before. Teams that win 60 games are generally among the top 2 teams in their conference. Given this, the probability of winning 60 games could be around 10-15%.

Probabilities:
Winning 40 games: 95-98%
Winning 50 games: 55-65%
Winning 60 games: 10-15%

These estimates reflect the upward trend after the Magic's strong 2023-24 performance.

-end chatbot-

I mean if we are honest, AB needs to show a visual leap in skillset to even being called a PG. Based on last season, i have a hard time seing any offensive skill that is even NBA starter level, even less for a PG. Like you said, can he beat anyone of the dribble? When not he will never be a on ball halfcourt PG. Can he shoot without space & ton of time or off the dribble? Is he athletic enough on offense at all? Because its not only that he cant beat anyone off the dribble, his finishes are well below the rim too. Does he even have good vision? Because he didn't show it in college or in his first NBA season. Is his Ballhandling good enough for a PG? Can he still draw fouls at a high rate like in college? Can he put up any constant rim pressure?

I think i've rarely had so many unanswered offensive skill questions about a high pick after his 1st season in my NBA fandom lifetime. Good thing is that he is still super young & everything is based on super small sample size + being used as a 3&D offball player almost all the time.

Yeah...tons of unanswered questions vs tons of hope and (maybe) potential upside as a fit on this team...Imagine having a young, really big lockdown defender who can spread the floor and be an effective secondary playmaker? That's about a perfect fit for Mosley's apparent vision for this team....but LOTS of questions and few answers so far. The only two "for sures" are size and defensive ability and he does seem to have a great personality and doesn't fear mixing it up defensively - which are nice foundation stones.

I'd say the hopeful upside (not SGA-c'mon  ) is a 6-7 Tyus Jones who defends like a hellion...perhaps only scores 10-12ppg ultimately, but makes his shots and demonstrates efficient playmaking. Solid assist/turnover ratio, solid defense, and solid shooting percentage (regardless of shot volume). Spectacular highlights and putting up numbers are nice...but, really, providing efficient playmaking and maintaining the defensive length and intensity deep into the bench is the vision I like.
