Anyways, the source inside the Magic said Oladipo and Exum played one on one, and Exum looked completely over matched. I don't know if Oladipo played Payton, but that would be interesting to find out if he did and if he did well is that why we drafted him instead of Exum.
that's still not really a good reason not to draft a guy though. Oladipo is four year older than exum, he should dominate him.
he's 3 years and a few days older...a single one on one is not enough to not draft a player, Magic's brain trust is clearly analytical and methodical...if that did happen it would just be one of the reasons - not the reason.
Frankly, I've seen every one of both summer league games and I like Gordon better and can see why Hennigan chose him- more versatile, his frame looks like it will be more durable, and his relentless defense.
From fan distance (with only what was on the screen), there was an intensity level in Gordon (at 18) that Exum (at 19) just didn't show in summer league - like he was too cool for it or a body language that read "i'm already a star and don't need to try as hard as the rest of these chumps"....kind of makes me think of Melo - a really good player but thus far he hasn't shown a voracious hunger to win like you see in the great ones...
