Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIII: Offseason Editio
Dwight won't say he wants to stay in ORL right now because ownership/management hasn't given him a reason to. I can't knock Dwight anymore. He opted in to give management more time to fix this bum roster. He's waiting. I think he wants to be here and is trying hard to find a reason to stay here, but if you're giving any all-star center the opportunity to play in ORL with Hedo or the opportunity to play in Brooklyn with D-Will, it's a no-brainer. The day the Magic make the changes he's asked for, the day you'll see him sign that extension. As far as I can see, this is all on management/ownership.

Okay....how much longer are we going to wait to make a decision? We need to get our front office set so we can focus on the draft and free agents/trades......

What, you don't want Otis handling all that?

You sure?
http://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/20 ... -chad-fordThough he offers no explanation for the delay, Chad Ford of ESPN.com said in a chat Wednesday, "I think you'll see them let go GM Otis Smith and head coach Stan Van Gundy in the next few days." Regarding the fate of superstar center Dwight Howard, Ford says, "I think everyone realizes he's gone sooner or later and the focus will be on how to best rebuild the team."
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports ... ay-so.htmlThe Orlando Magic and their fans face a sobering reality.
Dwight Howard has been given every opportunity to say publicly that he wants to return to the Magic in 2012-13. But he hasn’t done so.
The silence is deafening.
To be sure, Howard doesn’t have to talk. He has one more season remaining on his contract and he is obligated to play for the team next season, thanks to his decision to waive his early-termination option.
Well, when he said he wanted a trade, when it came down to it he waived his ETO. Honestly, if Dwight have learned anything from all of this I hope it would be keep your mouth shut, don't trust anybody and don't lie.

But, I may just read less and post on this board since everyone is infatuated in playing the Dwight Trade Video game. It got old during the season. It is ruining my love for the Magic to read crap like that.
Oh, this board is driving me nuts. That's why I can't read it here constantly, it's like mass panic, especially since the playoffs isn't even over and yet we're so sure what such and such is going to happen.

Same here.
We can't bash Dwight, anymore. He did his part, he gave them an extra year.
If he leaves because of a lack of changes, we really can't get mad. He just did something Lebron/Melo/Bosh didn't do, this is an extra year of his life. We need to get it together, we just got a second chance that 99% other teams don't get.

Seriously.......We need to get the ball rolling.
Unless.............a decision has already been made. And they decided to do nothing.....

magicfan84 wrote:^ The biggest problem is that the people we have in place to "build" around him are incompetent and I still think Otis has something over somebody to have kept and been promoted for what his body of work has led us to.
If our assets can't help us build around Dwight Howard this off season then why not just shed every bit of contract we have, except for Dwight, Davis, JJ, Liggins and Harper and add people to fill whatever gap that we have but make sure the players we add don't hinder us for the Summer of '13 and have a go at that?

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIII: Offseason Editio
why would anyone expect to see or hear anything different from Dwight? he's asked for changes over a year ago and all he got was BBD. he put the ball in the Magic's court when he opted back in, and ever since then he's had the franchise leak the news to the head coach and the public that Dwight wants him gone, he was reportedly stiffed on how the Magic would fly him to LA for treatment on his back, and he's had reportedly little contact from them since.
oh, and now they've been pussyfooting around whether or not to keep the GM and head coach. their inaction shows a lack of decisiveness and questionable commitment to keeping Dwight around. so, again, why would anyone expect to hear Dwight say anything differently at this point?

Unless you REALLY like Anthony Davis there really is no reason to trade Dwight. You won't get an equal return for him (Bynum isnt as good, Drummonds best case scenario is that he turns out as good as howard, but thats a risk) And I think that if we just cleared cap and kept him til 2013 with all that room and showed him that he can be our D Wade so to speak and lure some free agents (and buddies) here that he would 100% stay and be the good guy and everybody would love him again

somebody's head has to roll....Otis/SVG/Howard must be broken up at this point....it's a mess....the obvious choice to to start with a clean slate....hopefully that might show Dwight we're taking a step in the right direction when it comes to changing the culture.....
