lol my bad at getting this thing started. I think Ja will submit to whatever he needs to do to save his career and get all that money. But personally, even if I think it was stupid, if they derails his career and he gets blackballed I think he has a valid lawsuit on his hands and milk the NBA for a lot of money. No laws seem to have been broken (could be wrong I am ignorant to it). Top notch lawyers will get their hands on this. How do we even know if it was a real gun?

Bottom line is Ja gotta be smarter. I think he will figure that out by next year. If he likes guns that's no crime he just has to know he is in a position he can't boost like a rap video with them.

No law has been broken yes.. what about the leagues rules and regs though?

As i said before in my experience... there is no law being broken if i go inside a casino but i sure will break the rule in my contract for the company. Don't think there is a valid lawsuit i can make. Lol

What is your employer introduce the rule that you should kiss your ass every morning before starting your day? Would you be then similarly supportive to compliance with any rules or start asking that they should be relevant to your employment duties?

Who would agree to a contract that includes a clause about kissing their own ass every morning before starting their day? How strange. (Also, how? Like physically how?)

You have agreed to comply with internal policies. Check your contract my friend.

While I am unsure who would sign a contract that allows their employer to just add outlandish internal policies like that, let alone whether employment law would even allow policies like that to be added to any contract. I am more intrigued as to how anyone is supposed to kiss their own ass in the morning.

How does that work? So its the same as them adding an internal policy that you have to wear your feet as hands and hands as feet to work each day. Neither is physically possible. (Perhaps there are some contortionists who could do the ass kissing?)

And to return to the actual conversation, we are comparing outlandish policies like that to simply being asked not to tarnish your employers image by waving a gun around on social media like a moron.

I used that example to bring your attention to the fact that employers’ policies can be appropriate and not appropriate. You must follow the former and challenge the latter.

Morant waiving a gun is a personal matter that should not be the NBA’s business unless the NBA wants to promote anti-gun sentiments which is, as we all know, a purely POLITICAL matter.

And it is where it becomes an issue. Is your “conservative” employer allowed to suspend you from work for you liking trans-supporting tweets?

Inappropriate =/= impossible ;) But I understand what you were trying to do with the example. I'm not that familiar with US employment law, but here (NZ) there are limitations to what an employer can add as an internal policy. You last example would not stand up here, unless you explicitly agreed to that policy in the contract you signed (even then I am unsure such a policy would actually stand up).

It is probably hard for some of us outside of the US to understand the gun side of things, as that would be illegal here for sure.
However we need to keep in mind the context of Morant's situation. If I had got drunk (not illegal) made a mess of myself on social media (not illegal, potential risk to damage image of employer, which I would have agreed not to when signing contract), agreed to under go counselling and improve myself, then once again go and get drunk and make a mess of myself on social media (not illegal, likely breaching my contract) I would expect a suspension or something similar.

Well... how do i literally or figuratively kiss my a$$?

And as to rules... like i said.. i am free to resign any time i want to. I dont own the company, i work for them. They make the rules and if we dont like it, we can leave and go to their competitors if we want.

It is remarkable how passionate you are about interests of a multi-billon corporation you have no connection to and happy you feel joining the herd that attacks Ja who is undoubtedly a good human and arguably the best basketball talent on Earth.

I saw the Doc firing coming a mile away but he really should have been given another year with some roster stabilization, if they were able to keep The Beard.

I'm not passionate about their interests. More just bemused by the concept that employees are obliged to do follow any old policy a company thinks up.

Sure, Ja may be a good human, I'm not to judge as I don't know him, but good humans can be led to do stupid things by other less good humans. Also not attacking him, just think his recent decisions are misjudged and don't agree with them. If he is a good human, would you not want/expect/assume him to be doing good human things?

I'm not actually sure what your goal is in this thread? Do you want everyone to agree Ja is lovely, being unfairly treated and should continue on his current trajectory? Honest question, I haven't read back far enough.

Most of those coaches who are getting fired actually suck at coaching IMO. They just have all always had really good teams that carried their weakness.
