Would we rather be Cleveland or Denver? Cleveland was awful and started bottom up, Denver got players that could keep them afloat for a little while and get them to the playoffs. I'd rather be Cleveland, personally.
One of a few differences in the situation is that Melo isn't THAT good, Denver is just as good or better without him. So when Dwight goes we'll probably fall harder, but it will also be harder to keep this team in the playoff hunt with any possible trade. For me, that makes the decision easier... being stuck in the 7-11 seed area is not where I want to be. So unless its very good players or draft picks, the decision is pretty easy imo.
Cleveland in a heartbeat
i do not think we have an option of even being denver. also cleveland has kyrie, a future super-star and a better prospect than anybody that denver has. denver ain't winning a championship with galo as their center piece.
Yeah, that's what I was driving at. Denver maybe even got a little better with that trade because Anthony isn't on the same level of Howard. If its a fact that Dwight is going to New Jersey, then we aren't going to get great stuff for Dwight. Way I see it, we'll maybe have enough talent to put us in Milwaukee Bucks territory success-wise and that is the last place I want to see this team. Just outside the playoffs or a "good year" where we luck out and get a win in the first round instead of getting swept. And yet we're too successful to get a guy like Irving in the draft.
Maybe a brilliant GM could make something happen, but we've had years with Dwight and we haven't been able to get enough around him... what makes people think we'll make it with Brook Lopez as a centerpiece? People think NOT trading Dwight means prolonging our misery, I think the opposite. Trade Dwight for some "good" players and I'd expect a few years of first round exits before we finally have to bite the bullet and start from scratch anyway.
I hope I'm wrong, but that's how I see it. Throw in the slight possibility that we do get something done in the playoffs or Dwight stays, and then I really want to play it out.
