Would we rather be Cleveland or Denver? Cleveland was awful and started bottom up, Denver got players that could keep them afloat for a little while and get them to the playoffs. I'd rather be Cleveland, personally.

One of a few differences in the situation is that Melo isn't THAT good, Denver is just as good or better without him. So when Dwight goes we'll probably fall harder, but it will also be harder to keep this team in the playoff hunt with any possible trade. For me, that makes the decision easier... being stuck in the 7-11 seed area is not where I want to be. So unless its very good players or draft picks, the decision is pretty easy imo.

Cleveland in a heartbeat

i do not think we have an option of even being denver. also cleveland has kyrie, a future super-star and a better prospect than anybody that denver has. denver ain't winning a championship with galo as their center piece.

Yeah, that's what I was driving at. Denver maybe even got a little better with that trade because Anthony isn't on the same level of Howard. If its a fact that Dwight is going to New Jersey, then we aren't going to get great stuff for Dwight. Way I see it, we'll maybe have enough talent to put us in Milwaukee Bucks territory success-wise and that is the last place I want to see this team. Just outside the playoffs or a "good year" where we luck out and get a win in the first round instead of getting swept. And yet we're too successful to get a guy like Irving in the draft.

Maybe a brilliant GM could make something happen, but we've had years with Dwight and we haven't been able to get enough around him... what makes people think we'll make it with Brook Lopez as a centerpiece? People think NOT trading Dwight means prolonging our misery, I think the opposite. Trade Dwight for some "good" players and I'd expect a few years of first round exits before we finally have to bite the bullet and start from scratch anyway.

I hope I'm wrong, but that's how I see it. Throw in the slight possibility that we do get something done in the playoffs or Dwight stays, and then I really want to play it out.

Orlando Magic and Minnesota Timberwolves discussed a Jason Richardson for Michael Beasley swap. Nothing imminent. Wolves weighing options.

To all of those who think we are getting picks worth anything from NJ, what are you thinking?

They are 4.5 games out of the #8 spot. If you give them Dwight then with 23 games left they could catch up and possibly sneak in to the playoffs. So that pick may not be that valuable. Any future picks are guaranteed to suck and not be in the lottery.

So how does this help???

Here is a scenario for you message board fans:

Dwight was constantly brainwashed by his "people" for the
trade request over the past summer(s). He realized that
he is not confident to beat Miami this year so he said trade
me or find some good players. But Howard being the young,
insecure person he is, felt the heavy pressure of his trade
request since the beginning of the season. Coming from fans,
family, media, Magic management, etc. Now, he looks at the
picture during the all star weekend, and thinks:

1- New Jersey is not going to make playoffs even if he goes
there this year
2- Kobe is not gonna give me the ball and treat me like
how he treats Bynum
3- Dallas looks really not much different than Magic right now
4- Magic will most likely come out 3rd seed in the east.
5- I am not fully committed to leaving Magic yet.
6- Maybe I should postpone this heavy decision as much
as possible, without upsetting my "people" or the "team"
or the "fans".
7- Ok, I am gonna say "keep me this year", and then I will
have more time to think it over, and see what else is out there
during free agency.

********************

Now, who is spreading these "rumors" to various hacks at ESPN?
It is most likely either his "people" or New Jersey management,
who are out for their own benefits I suspect.

Why? Because, they realized that Dwight is struggling to
strongly decide against Magic, and they want to force the Magic
managament's hand. If Dwight hits free agency this summer,
NJ will be very nervous, because they can loose both Dwight AND
Deron. His people will loose all the benefits from Dwight's
new shoe deals, TV commercials, etc. If they can get Magic
to trade him now, they win.

The "rumor" spreaders are smart, they think that
This scenario of making Dwight look like he is screwing Magic
will definitely make Devos want to trade him rather than keep him.
If Magic trades Dwight now, it mostly benefits NJ and Dwight's
"people".

Berger: "I am shocked at the level of self-serving and no sense of self-awareness shown by Howard."

I've bee saying for a while that he has no sense of awareness, whatsoever.

"I'm so glad Dwight is staying" is making me want to explode.

He

Is

Under

Fn

Contract

With

Us

He isn't doing us a favor by saying that. He's wanted to be traded up until last night. God some of you are dense and in denial.

Again I'll buy you all beer if we win the title this year and you can quote me on that.

Those saying keep him and making a run at a championship this year are being simple minded to put it mildly. I am not opposed to keeping him, but it has to be with a plan. If you can free up cap space to be a legit threat to take Deron from New Jersey then keep him. IF you make a trade for say Steve Nash (an expiring) and try to win a championship this year and hope Nash can convince him to opt in then i say keep him. But to not make a move and keep him and the team as is and hopes he stays after the season is over is being beyond idiotic.

So Otis gave up on Dwight, so that probably means he's fired for sure if Dwight even stays one additional year. However, what happens if Dwight ends up leaving after saying roll the dice? Will Martins give Otis too much credit for wanting to trade him and end up keeping him on board? Otis with free reign to tear down and rebuild the team? Scary...

Berger saying that he is extremely surprised at Dwight's comments last night. Saying they were very very self serving, saying he broke agreement with Alex Martins. Saying he's purposely trying to make the Magic look like the bad guy. Wants another chance to win in ORL and then bolt.

In regards to Dwight having the power to fire Otis/Stan.

It was harder than I thought, what with all these roman numerals and post counts! Double check I did it right, if you would, I'd hate to screw up your legacy ;)

Wait..Raj are you IT?

@eyriq  It's all good. There wouldn't be an epic Speculation thread if it wasn't for the RealGM users on here, and the mods (you guys actually changed the name of the original thread to "Official Speculation"... so I just ran with it). Thanks again man.

@Blue_and_Whte: :dontknow: ... 8-) ... Naw I'm not IT. I meant the wireless working on my phone, while I was on campus. I'm mostly doing UF College of Public Health grad work.... I wish I had IT skills.

Ken Berger: Dwight wants to be able to be the good guy in the eye of the fans but at the same time wants to be able to go to Brooklyn after the season and sign a 200+ million dollar Adidas deal.

Berger saying that he was told they were coming to the realization they need to trade Dwight.. saying only RDV wants to keep him. Says they may want to hold him with hopes that trade market may be hotter in July. Says they are seriously looking at NJ trade to suck them dry.

I wish Dwight would just man up and stop trying to make us look like the bad guy.

Be a man, you want to go to NY, it's understandable. But stop saying things like "It's about winning" and sh*t like that, when that's clearly not true.
