Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XLI Off-Season Edition)
What people don't understand about the Cle trade is that OUR draft pick becomes lotto aswell as whatever picks we get from the Cavs.
Whereas if we took Bynum we'll have our mid-teen pick and that's it..... Would you rather have top 5 picks over the next few years or have mid-teen picks with Bynum? People want things done now, that's where Bynum comes in. The intellectual way would be to go with the rebuild.
Let Miami have their reign, we'll come back strong for their downfall.

I think it's kind of risky for both Bynum and Howard to wait till next season to get the better contract. Especially for Bynum. With his history, there's no way Im not signing an extension right now.

Hard to close a deal with a client by saying "hey lets go see the 15 win Magic team with a bunch of unknowns get destroyed by 20 points tonight!" A half empty area is a bad option if you are in this as a business.....This is a perfect example of why it's a business decision as well as a basketball one. I buy two club seats to take clients and prospective clients to games. If the team totally tanks, do I really want to invest that $10K, or do I look at some other way to invest it? For some folks that's not a big deal, but I assure you it's a huge deal for me.
Do small businesses take a chance on that kind of investment if the team is nothing but rookies and Anderson Varejeo?
If your business decisions really are affected whether a sports team that you actually do no business with other than go take clients to, depends if they win or not they that says something about YOUR selling ability!
Yeah, sorry but that's BS. It's all about marketing, and this is part of it. If the team sucks, then we spend our marketing dollars elsewhere.

We are going to be pretty bad whether we deal with Houston or Cleveland. But Houston has better draft picks to offer, as well as good young players that fit the rebuild.
PLEASE DEAL WITH HOUSTON!

But if the team absolutely blows those business are going to use that money on something else to bribe people for business. It has nothing to do with selling ability.
So basically you want to go to Magic games and they will use their money else where and take you to maybe Solar Bear games and you don't like that!
Trust me. Business's will find other avenues to spend their money. Spending $8-10k on lower bowl seats to a losing team is not a good investment for a company to bring clients to. Now, concerts at the Amway may be.
One of the perks you get as a business with club seats is first refusal of concert and event tix in those seats.
I know we've drifted a bit off topic, but as you said before, the big money being spent at the Amway is by businesses, and deciding to trade away an all-star and not get one in return is bad business for the Magic - from a corporate sponsor perspective.
Personally I prefer we trade for Bynum because I think he is a building block, we won't totally suck while we retool, and he's a name player.
But it's also good for business.

Mid-Teens with Bynum. He's a known quantity, has star potential, and will instantly be a top three center in the east. He's a building block that we know can play, is only 24, and has potential to get even better.

According to the latest NBA rumors, the Los Angeles Lakers want nothing to do with a trade that involves sending Jason Richardson to L.A. What’s wrong with a shooting guard who’s still capable of being an offensive spark off the bench you ask? He and Steve Nash got beef, reportedly.

Well that IS the benefit to these 3 team deals. As long as we get at least one pick from whoever gets Bynum, there is always a chance for that pick to be very good if ole creaky knees goes down.
That said I'm definitely more interested in Houston assets. I watched a couple highlight videos on Waiters (I know we probably don't get him anyway), but Lamb looks better imo. But what do I know, I'm not scouting these guys.

This Howard news affects #Rockets pursuit by solidifying Bynum as someone they can flip a DH rental for by deadline.#Magic seek "best deal."
Tony Mejia@TonyMejiaNBA
Finally been advanced legitimately since LAL-CLE-ORL 3-way been overblown. Story coming on why #Rockets deal even more likely.
Tony Mejia@TonyMejiaNBA
Unless ORL warms to Bynum, HOU will most likely be involved as a 3rd team" Bynum has to warm, too. Neither has much interest.

Interesting point. Houston tries out Howard, the better of the two, if they fail to sway him they can trade for Bynum who wants to be there. I like it.
