There is no way he's getting more than 8 million a year, and he's only getting that if he's starting on that team. If he's not starting I don't think he gets more than 6. If I was Orlando my offer would be 3 years, 16 million. That's slightly better than market rate.

well, he would only get a tax break on about half his games, not sure that equals $1m in savings.

56% of the games i guess
42 in Orlando
2 in Miami
1 in San Antonio
1 in Dallas
1 in Houston

hence my use of the word "about" half the games

Thats what i was wondering too, i mean Hennigan did negotiate the trade to give us the biggest TPE in the history of the NBA, and now we just gonna let it go to waste without ever using it?

Plus, that's the wrong way to look at it anyways. It's the opportunity cost of staying in ORL vs going out of state. You would get the MIA, SAN, DAL, HOU games anyways no matter where you are. The difference is the home games (plus any other additional games you might play in TX subtracting games you would've played in FL). So it works out to approx 50% DIFFERENT between staying in ORL vs going elsewhere.

We have till well past the draft to use it. It's not set to expire at the trade deadline.

You have 1 year from the trade itself to utilize the TPE. So the expiration date would be 08/12/13

Resign JJ for 6-8mil, 4-5 years. Look at Nene who was still an asset after a brand new contract. And we still need good locker room guys for the rebuild.

No reason we couldn't give JJ $15M next season, and then $5-6M every season after for 3 years. We don't need to save the coin next year, and it'd keep him happy, and keep him affordable when we intend to chase FAs. I'm not sure who the percentage raises/decreases are intended to protect.

that's called cap circumvention

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

I'm guessing he gets around 7million for 4 years, around 30 million total. He's probably worth that. I'm just not sure how many teams can offer him more than that, if he really thinks he can get ten per year.

Meh, I'd buy a couple sweaters and tough it out for an extra million or two each year.

the one thing he has done making it known he wants $10m/yr is kill some of his trade value. Any team looking to trade now see's that he wants to get paid big money and will cause some teams to shy away from trading for him. He is being successful at staying if that is his goal.

When did he say he's worth $10 million? I haven't heard him discuss his monetary value at all...

edit: nevermind, saw the wiretap... eh, "sources." I would not be surprised if the source had nothing to do with the Magic or JJ... you know, to eliminate the competition for him. Of course, this is likely a negotiation tactic all non-star players use, so it could be comign from his camp. He will not get $10/year from any team though. Interesting the rumor says Magic are looking to sign him for $5 mil... that seems like a joke. He's worth more than $5 mil. I see no reason why Magic wouldn't quickly sign him for $6 mil, maybe even $7 mil if that's his market value.

You're assuming this came from him. Who knows where it came from? Could have been Josh Smith trying to kill a trade to Milwaukee for all we know. And frankly, just because a player wants ten million doesn't mean there's anyone willing or able to pay ten million.

Hell, I want ten million. I'm guessing the chances I get it are only slightly worse than JJ at this point.

Woj is usually pretty reliable, but i can't believe the Magic will offer him 5mil. His value is not going down, so that would be an insult to JJ. It may just be what his agent leaked to get rid of suitors and go into free agency. I doubt he will get the 10 mil, but I am not mad at him asking for it.

I read that as only sub-par teams are asking and his message is "don't effing trade for me because I will not resign with you and i want to test the market because all of you mofos are full of it with your offers."
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

The new CBA has changed contracts. I've said it a million times, but his role/talent is getting 5-5.25 million in the new CBA. Starters get 7.5-10 if they're as average as Afflalo and JJ are, more if their stars.

Didn't take long: http://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/20 ... t-contract

Teams wary of JJ's salary demands. I hope this comment doesn't screw us in the ned. Minny wants talent and wants to give picks.

The Bucks are also still trying to figure out if JJ Redick is a good fit, per a source.
