Re: Jerry Stackhouse rumored to replace Frank Vogel
There are a lot of reasons why this won't happen, but I'm starting the campaign. #BringSVGHome
I don't think SVG would have a lot of interest in jumping back into coaching immediately, especially for this franchise. But, the Magic would be remiss to not at least inquire.

Coach Vogel is a broken man. For his own self-protection, the Magic need to let him go.

Jeff Van Gundy is a better fir for me. Orlando has gotten burned by rehiring coaches.

Looking at Hammond and Weltman, and one name kept popping up in wiki: Sam Mitchell
Not sure what he's up to these days, but Mitchell might be exactly the kind of guy that fits the WeHamm mold as a coach to transition a team to a wining way.

Mitchell is older and is happy doing NBA network stuff.
I'd rather have Stackhouse. We are about to reboot to a younger team and he can be that guy that actually develops the guys in a system that plays to their strengths.

Re: Jerry Stackhouse rumored to replace Frank Vogel
Stan would be unlikely to even take a call after the debacle here. Jeff VG has also slammed Orl (which is gutsy for a commentator). So, I can't see it - and I don't blame them.
I don't want a retread (Mitchell, etc) or traditionalist. We need a dynamic, young guy with revolutionary/evolutionary ideas, IMO. Is Forcier the guy, or the offensive guy from Toronto, or Stack? maybe. If we're committed to AG and Isaac, that's where the conversation starts -how would you use them. IMO, Hezonja, is another topic to discuss-how would you not have wasted him? How will you not turn Doncic into Mario story

I would pair young energetic coach with more experienced strategic thinker. This setup won many world championships before in many sports. This Nurse guy from Toronto is very interesting, but if we take Nurse and Stackhouse Ujiri would feel robbed by close friends
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

What about the Italian guy that, I think, was somehow linked to Spurs. Wasn't he considered revolutionary offensive mastermind destined to be an NBA coach? I can't remember name.
I'd like to defend Vogel, but it's just too much evidence. Sure the roster sucks, but...

Re: Jerry Stackhouse rumored to replace Frank Vogel
I think The Magic are likely to hire a coach to develop the roster during this rebuild and more importantly change the culture around here.
A big step will likely be the dealing of several veteran players and building on the players brought in last summer.
I fully expect Nikola Vucevic to be moved to free up minutes in the frontcourt for Jonathan Issac and Khem Birch.
They also might move Evan Fournier and see what he can get them.
The offseason starts with likely a new coach and that high first round pick. It goes from there to what happens the rest of the Draft, the Trade Market and Free Agency.

Dude, I'd be all over this.

Waste of time to even think SVG would come back. That ship has sailed.

Not a waste of time. There are obvious reasons why he wouldn't be interested. There are some why he would be. Still lives in Lake Mary with his family. Still has strong roots in the community. Shouldn't have been fired in the first place. Would instantly change the culture.

Sure, but he's not even on the rumored list of hires. Plus Alex Martins. Plus what his brother went public with. It's just probably not happening if you really think about it.

people need to get over stan
I get what he did for us, but that was a long time ago when he had a perfect situation (roster wise). Look what he has done in detroit, and they are far more talented team than us. Hes been under been under .500 three out of four years with his best season being a 44 win season. And again, those pistons teams are better than the team he will have here.

Agree. It just doesn't make much sense. We are clearly about to roll out young lineups for a while too. Better to bring in a young coach who isn't jaded yet and see if you can get a Stevens/Celtics thing going.

Re: Jerry Stackhouse rumored to replace Frank Vogel
Let's be honest, how impressive has Stan been without a hall of fame center (Shaq,Dwight) to make his offense really work? Not only that but Stan has been even worse than Vogel in terms of developing their lottery picks and giving them minutes and a role in Detroit, just visit their board for confirmation on that. I think a lot of the intrigue about potentially bringing Stan back is just nostalgia getting in the way of the fact that he's not the coach he was here and this isn't near the roster or situation that Stan would have success with. Much better options out there for us.

I think they were referring to Ettore Messina.
