I was reading an article yesterday that said if the Warriors trade James Wiseman they could save $131M dollars in the next two years in luxury tax...I assume the same to a lesser degree is true with Moody.
Maybe we could get involved in a trade sending Harris to Warriors, with either Wiseman going to a third team and something coming back our way, or just Moody for Harris and maybe some other cap relief.....That Jordan Poole contract is going to be a killer next year when you are considering luxury tax

If we’re really lucky we might even have a chance at Luke Kornet and the corpse of Danilo Gallinari.

Just noticed Poeltl got moved for a protected first and salary dump (Khem Birch)....probably means we aren't getting a first for Bamba. Still probably needs to go seeing how Mose doesn't even have him in the rotation...even though he's one of the best shooters on a shooting starved team

Would like to see us move Ross, RJ, Bamba, and even Harris. Okeke? Would never know he was gone. But I don’t want them to trade valuable assets and picks for a player who won’t make a huge difference. This should be the last season they miss the playoffs for a while. Build for 2024.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

I'd really like them to address the backcourt by acquiring a long-term starter at either spot today, but I just don't think the front office sees it the same way I do.

And imo, somewhere between fans and internet and forums that fact has been lost.
Now fans only care about "who's future looks brighter" despite fact vast majority of "bright futures " go nowhere.
And-1
This is a great trade for the Nets as the haul is large. And the Suns will probably be horrible in 2027.
But for the Suns, it's kind of like the Raptors in 2018/19. Yes losing DeRozan to gain Leonard was foolish from an asset management perspective, but, the team won the Championship. That makes it all worth it, no matter what comes after.
What is relevant is that Orlando is actually not far off from needing to push the chips All-in. I would say the 2024 off-season for the 2024/25 season is it for this team. The roster needs to be set between now and opening night in two years time. That's all the time management has to create its ideal roster. That's it.
Win now. Tomorrow is not relevant.

He'll probably wake up and wipe the bird crap out of his eyes around 2. Then he'll trade a future 2nd rounder for cash considerations and go back to bed.Audi wrote:Weltman in his night cap and pajamas waking up in Orlando at 9:00am in a few minutes here, stretching and yawning, taking his phone from the night stand and turning off Do Not Disturb, rubbing his eyes and reading the trade news...

The alternative is to leave those gaps open to allow rookie contracts to grow into those roles. Addressing our backcourt issue with rookie contracts is our highest ceiling option. Given we have Suggs and two probable lottery picks this summer our highest ceiling scenario is to not bring in a solid starter and instead provide growth space for our rookie contracts.Knightro wrote:I'd really like them to address the backcourt by acquiring a long-term starter at either spot today, but I just don't think the front office sees it the same way I do.

Its not a strong draft. We will be investing in another medium ceiling project while Wagner and Banchero are ready to win ? Wagner will be well into his extension when our draftee will or will not be ready to.win.
I dont think pick outside top 2 will have more ceiling than veteran acquisition. Odds are against young players, few become good.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

This is putting a lot of faith into both internal improvement and hitting on draft picks.
I also question what the point of building up a cache of cap space/cap flexibility/moveable assets even is if there's not a willingness to cash them in when the opportunity arises.
