Curious if Orlando should had made the play for Ja instead of Bane?

Imm confused as hell why we dealt four firsts, but if I look at Mikal Bridges went for four firsts, then this makes sense.

Bane was actually carrying the Memphis Grizzlies at one point during their crazy run a few years back.

This is such a swing deal. I sure hope management gets a high potential player at 25, otherwise…. We may not even have enough assets as backup in case this deal doesnt plan out.

Bane gives us a legit offensive option to complete a trio of Paolo and Franz.

Hopefully management makes upgrade at the C spot, then all they have to worry is the bench.

Ja is too much of a headcase to even risk such a deal, imo.

Ja is definitely talented but I’m not sure if he is championship caliber because he is unreliable.

Grand Slam from my perspective. Cost was high but we have youth.

I’m happy. Call me ignorant

That is type of haul you are proposing to get prime Durant, Lebron, Giannis, not fringe all star player that really isn't fixing some issues you already have on roster.

From salary cap POV, Banchero + Suggs + Franz + Bane = $160M in 2026-27

I guess our C rotation will continue to be Goga, Carter and Isaac for rest of this decade

Magic now have, from 2025-2031 - two first round picks. Not very valuable 25th pick ( way too late) and 2027 first round pick.

Scary.

Bane helps shooting issues. Bane adds to our shooting.
But Bane isn't very durable player, isn't really young ( 27, pretty much in his prime) and isn't full time playmaker.

Tbh this feels like panic move made by person who is in fear for his job. Esencially, this is Ibaka trade, just in this case Ibaka has more years left on his deal.
But Hennigan didn't sold 6 round picks for Ibaka, just one.

Absolutely wild comparing this to the ibaka trade. Hard to take you serious sometimes.

Nets got Durant for same deal. In times Durant was top 3-4 player in the world.

We got Bane.

I compared it with Ibaka because it's panic, knee jerk reaction trade where Magic are adding player with name recognition and name value but not player that they actually need.

Desmond Bane is shooting guard. Who can pile up assists. In regular season. But can't run playoff offense.
Magic have Jalen Suggs. Who is shooting guard as well.

Adding another "part time playmaker" on a team filled with "part time playmakers" that nobody can actually make-plays, in playoffs doesn't solve much.
He is much better shooter/scorer than we had in past but main issue ( creation in half court, ball movment, playmaking) is still not solved. Nor now will be. Simply no more assets.

5 first round picks down the drain, and Magic still have no point guard. It was same like Ibaka trade in that sense, Ibaka had high name value, but Ibaka played same position as Gordon, as team had no SF ( nor PG for that matter) .

You keep saying that, but no its not even close to the same

first of all.......The nets signed Durant as a free agent through a sign and trade where the nets didnt give up any draft picks
second of all the trade youre thinking is durant to the suns which included 4 first round picks...........AND MIKAL BRIDGES, CAM JOHNSON and Jae crowder.

Mikal bridges himself was traded for 5 first and nets have had offers of multiple first for cam johnson, so no durant wasnt just traded for 4 first. He was essentially traded for 9 first and their best player in cam

Jonathan Isaac and Jett Howard combined make $20.5M...

Could be the next domino.

4 my man . It's 4 first round picks, not 5.

Completely different time period. I know u have seen the trades for gobert & bridges & siakim. Stop acting like u didn't see those trades.

We're all 3 of those teams got to the conference finals after making those trades.

This is the new going price for said players.

Mind bane is probably the best time out of all of them when u factor in impact, age & contract.

Those picks could have been used for a point guard. Why did we do this.

Plus as someone mentioned, Cavs traded Sexton, Markennin and a boatload of picks for Mitchell. So we only traded picks, no young players. People can’t see the difference.

I give this a C+ because the firsts are future firsts when Orlando is competing outside of #16.

The grade will be higher if other trades are made to address the obvious.

I would feel so much better if they swapped the Phoenix pick with #25. Does Memphis still do the trade? Thats still a lot of picks.

I’m sure they asked. The moment this trade got announced, multiple people texted me “whoa imagine what Memphis wants for Ja if they demanded four firsts for Bane.” Ja has to be untouchable practically.

Bane is basically a PG. He had two 14 assists games last season.
