Well: these three combined to average 15 apg last year. So ....

In all seriousness, the idea that the Magic will have a lead PG is ridiculous. F-Wagner and Benchero will initiate all set plays. And from there, here's praying that 80% of the time is is some sort of PnR.

We will see. Actually starting tomorrow! Go Magic.

Wasn't the problem last year (besides shooting) was that we didn't have a lead guard and these two had to initiate almost every set? Didn't we want a guard and shooters this off season because our offense was so bad? Why then are we still putting all the pressure on Franz and Paolo to initiate every set when we actually have a good point guard?

Having Suggs (hopefully mostly healthy) and Bane makes four people that can handle the ball and Bane now adds extra gravity out there. It's definitely not going to be all Paolo/Franz all the time, although most actions will still involve at least one of them.

Feels like Jase and Black are a very good fit together?

If Jase really is a 6'1" shooting guard, then he pairs quite nicely with a 6'7" point guard, right?

The problem last year was the Magic's overdpendence on hero ball from Banchero and F-Wagner, which led to low efficiency for both.

The Magic does not need a lead guard to be successful, but there does need to be more two-man sets and even a triangle play or two.

The PnR is the most efficient play in the NBA. It must be a staple. There is no reason why the most common play cannot be Banchero and F-Wagner running reciprocal PnRs off each other.

Didn't we want a guard and shooters this off season because our offense was so bad? Why then are we still putting all the pressure on Franz and Paolo to initiate every set when we actually have a good point guard?

Not sure who the "we" is in this, but Bane ticks two boxes in being efficient and an elite passer out of the 2.

So long as Suggs is a Magician, the Magic cannot have a lead guard. It won't work. If the Magic want to do something like start Jones as the sort of guard Magic fans want to start, Suggs would need to be shipped off.

Let me flip this around: will the Magic win more games with Jones next to Bane or Suggs next to Bane?

Is there a reason why we cannot sub out Suggs or Bane and allow Jones to play with the rest of the starting unit so that we can have a lead guard in the mix. We don’t need to trade Suggs, we can just sub him out.

Corey Joseph shown us that a lead guard for this team is a good thing. And we can work with it that Paolo and Franz DO NOT need to initiate every set.

They didn’t bring in Tyus for his defense…out of the whole league, he is the epitome of a pure PG. Not saying he is the modern model Lead Guard or that he will or should start…but you just don’t even talk to Tyus Jones if you think efficient pass-first PG play is dead.

We’re all hyped but let’s not forget the hideous mess our offense was last year…there’s plenty of room for the Assist/turnover ratio king to contribute to an offensive makeover. Bringing a better shooter (Bane) to the lineup is huge but there’s a lot more to good shooting than just good shooters…we proved that last year by destroying the shooting reputations of multiple players practically overnight.

Respectfully, the Magic is not paying Suggs 35,000,000 to be a sub.

That’s not what I mean. When Suggs or Bane is subbed out, just put Jones in their place so that he can play pg with the rest of the starters.

How is Jase's injury? Hope he plays more this preseason. He is going to get his minutes this season if he plays this way and consistently. Happy for him.
