It seems clear the Nets know they can get Howard in July, why give away all of their assets for him now?

Monta is a high volume shooter. Might as well trade for j.r. Smith

I'm sure Otis is looking at Brandon Jennings if no Ellis deal falls through.

There were some reports earlier - sorry, no link at the moment - that Dwight and Monta were talking earlier today. So Monta has to know, and is likely pissed at GS ownership.

Where would you rather go if you were him, Milwaukee, or Orlando?

He's content to stay in the Bay. Is Orlando really that appealing with no assurance of Howard sticking around?

More appealing than GS? I'd say yes.

We are a winning franchise, have a better coach, have an owner willing to spend, and have always been able to attract free agents. We have capspace coming up. I would say Orlando is way more appealing than GS with or without Dwight.

I am making the assumption (which may be right or wrong) that their conversation included something about Dwight either re-signing or opting in for his last year if Monta comes to play here.
(Edit: Oh, and don't forget that any trade to Orlando is actually a pay increase, due to the difference in state income tax between California (~10%) and Florida(precisely 0%)

I think something built along these lines, with draft picks mixed in, might appeal to all three teams:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=75lamb6
Warriors get their Center and a veteran SG to play next to Curry
Bucks dump SJax's contract and add Ryan Anderson as a potential building block or further trade bait
magic get their man.

I hate to be negative but I'm getting the feeling Orlando is going to come out with the shortend of the stick on this one.

I hope otis can land Ellis, but I'm getting the feeling we're going not only loose out on Ellis but ownership caves and trades D12 at the last minute.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

BTW if we have to trade both JJ and Ryan to get Ellis, I think I rather go after Nash and keep one of them.
