Guys come on, really bynum?? How medicore are we going to be with bynum as part of our team? He isn't Dwight Howard no matter how you want paint him. Bad knees, he isn't even the best player on the lakers since kobe and paul grabs enough attention then him..Imagine this, if Bynum plays for the magic then we will be 2 or 3 levels downgrade . Take the rebuild mode with the nets!! gutt out that team so dwight and the nets will be second round exits at best, trust me nets package is the best we can do for this franchise. PLEASE NO BYNUM, we be medicore at best with first round exits ready to happen. Rebuild over staying competative when we know very well we can't compete vs bulls or miami heat for yearss to come...think about it!!

I rather have Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-gilchrist than Bynum or any other player.

I would rather have JJ play center than to have Lopez on this team..
I don't get all the hate for Lopez on this board. Sure, he's no Dwight, and he needs to work harder at rebounding and defense, but he's a polished offensive center with decent mid-range. We could do much, much worse at center than Brook Lopez.

People on this board make him out to be the next coming of Greg Kite, and it just isn't true.
It's like the movie "Step Brothers" "I don't know what it is about his face" but I want to deliver one of these right in his suckhole"

Exactly, Luke Walton is the biggest clown in the NBA, why "shed" Q and Duhon (I like Q's contract) only to get back a more horrible one in Walton?? Stupid. That being said, ANY deal we make needs to make sure we get back a decent asset or two, and LOTS of capspace for next summer, when we try to make a splash again in the amazing FA pool.

Is the great FA pool at the end of this season or the end of the next season??

end of next season, but we still have 4+mil to blake..evens out

I do not blame the franchise for Howard wanting out and I will not blame them for trading him. But, I will be absolutely livid if they trade him to the Lakers.

I hear ya, but you're not the only one that saw Shaq leave this franchise. I know, it sucks the Lakers get Dwight, but I really don't want another 15 years before we make noise again. Bynum is showing some promise, and we are going to have to rely on free agency to do the rest, but that is our only shot. Prides a tough pill to swallow, but it honestly comes down to Lopez or Bynum? and whats best for the Magic?

Neither of them are the kind of players you build around. You build around the likes of Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Durant, Howard, Duncan, Griffin... not Bynum and Lopez.

And include this years lotto and additional firsts from Nets.

Leaves us with some good pieces to build around.

Trade all the picks we acquired from NJ to land either Andre Drummond or Harrison Barnes

Ryan Anderson
Kyle Lowery
MarSwag Brooks
Either Andre Drummond or Harrison Barnes
Deandre Liggins

Build around those guys and maybe sign an up and comer to add.

that's awful. That reminds me of the TMac trade except we don't at least get an allstar back. Why would you trade for a bunch of nobodies? Stars win in this league. Bynum has star talent.

For a late round rookie, that guy has been incredible, and Lopez has his weaknesses but he is very skilled. Get a tough four next to Lopez and some guys who can defend on the wings and he'd be fine. The biggest problem I have with New Jersey is that it's hard to dump some of our crap with them.

If we're forced to deal with NJ, then we'll take what we can get. But if LA is willing to trade us bynum while taking back a few bad contracts, its a no brainer.

Agreed. Just saying that Brooks and Lopez are good and young players.

I love this deal actually. Similar to a deal I originally proposed, but had Dwight going to Houston. I just don't know if Houston quite bites on taking Lopez for Lowry, even though they really want a big. Might have to throw in one more piece. This would give us a couple good assets in Lowry, Brooks as well as shed a good amount of salary, and then we could make a good splash next summer. Just not sure Houston bites there...

Oh God. "Taking care of Dwight." That's rich.

I guess our money isn't enough to feed his family.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

No we would rather have a legit dominant center than a 7 footer who is averaging 3 rebounds a night this year.

Well, he's only played two games this year. If you check the stats, his career average for rebounds is actually higher then Bynums. Lopez was awful last year, for a few reasons. He lost 30 pounds due to mono and he had Humphries snagging everything. Not making any excuses, because a 7 footer should have more then 5 rebounds, but still. In his brief two games this year he looked very good, especially with a 35 pt game against Dallas.

Good, you keep him then...

What's best for the Magic if Dwight leaves is a full rebuild, not a patchwork with Bynum doing a bad Dwight impression.

No, but Bynum is infinitely better than anything the Nets could offer.

Wow. He's really let it go to his head. I'd like to know the question and full answer in context, but that quote makes him look bad, bad, bad.
